From a search:

"For all products, items stored in the Library folder in Mac OS X Lion are now hidden. To view the Library folder in Mac OS X Lion:

From the Finder menu bar navigate to Go > Go to Folder.
Type: ~/Library
Click Go, and you will be presented with a Finder window with the Library folder as the active location."
Thanks! It makes sense now. More security, I guess. That way people don't inadvertently delete stuff they need.

They also took away Rosetta, so you can't use any legacy programs. Another thing I found that would be useful is File Vault's new feature. You can encrypt whole disk drives now instead of just your Home folder. But I'm guessing you'd have to format the disk you want to encrypt first.

Be VERY careful with File Vault. Because of the way that it does things recovery can be difficult if you have to reformat. It took well over a week to figure out how to get the encrypted files unencrypted and moved to a clean disk. They had been backed up with Time Machine. There was quite a bit of time getting up close and personal with the command line in doing so and I was nearing the stage of giving up hope that my 4500+ pictures would be recovered. In the end I got most of them with the exception of the last couple week's worth so I was very happy.

My understanding is that some of the things that lead up to this near disaster with File Vault have been corrected (files are now encrypted on the fly and back ups to Time Machine happen on the fly as well rather than at system shutdown) but I'm very leery of having to repeat my experience with it.

I installed Lion on a Mac mini late last night (yeah, I gotta life don't I?) and will check the apps to see if it's broken anything sometime today. With heat indexes near 130 I sure as Hell won't be outside!

Have you tried clearing the cache, history and cookies?
I'm not seeing massive memory usage and my CPU temps actually seem to be a little lower (130 degrees right now) as well as battery usage. Not sure about the battery usage though.

Yea, I tried that and the same thing as soon as I open safari? I open the istat app and watch my cpu temp double to about 84c and once I try to close safari normally I get the beach ball spinning and I have to force quit it.
I so used to Safari that having to use another browsers annoying.
I hope they have a fix for this cause I know that I'm not alone

Before I loaded Lion, I ran Disk Utility from my Leopard disk. Checked the disk and repaired all permissions.
I don't know if it would help, but you might go to the Library>Caches folder and pitch out everything that is in them. I say them because there is one of these folders in the main library and in the individual users folder. I stumbled on this a couple of months ago and it helped with some speed issues that I had been running into.

A couple of things. Here's how to permanently unhide the Library folder:

In terminal type the following command and hit enter:

chflags nohidden /Users/<Username>/Library”

Where it says <Username> you would substitute your username on the computer. Once the command is completed type “exit” and hit enter then close Terminal.

I host my webpages on one of my Macs and the upgrade killed the web hosting. Turned out that it apparently TURNED OFF "Web Sharing" in the Sharing Control Panel. Thankfully an easy fix once I figured out go take a look there.

I don't know if you guys use Mail for RSS feeds, but it's got a neat feature. If you scroll to the bottom of a post to "Read More" and put your cursor over the link, an arrow shows up. If you click on the arrow, the thread pops up. You can't post to it in Mail, but you can read it.

Thanks for the great info CraigP!

Triple's, have you tried holding Alt/Option and opening Safari? It should try to open it without addons. That's really strange that they'd leave it broken for this long...

Yea, I've reloaded the lion download hoping it was that but no dice. I've done whats other have suggested as well as your suggestion with no luck it still sucks up all the memory and the cpu temp shoots to 83c
I've read there are a number of problems and mine is one of them. I don't feel like reloading from scratch so I'll just use Firefox for the time being I also have chrome and neither of these have issue's.

Glad that fixed it for you, but here's another curveball. I'm running 5.1.

Well, it seems that since I removed 5.1 as it was having issue's? I replaced it with a copy from my backup on time machine which was 5.04 on Snow Leopard
It Now won't let me install the latest 5.4 upadate since I'm Now on Lion, And not on Snow Leopard
I'll wait for another Safari update to be pushed out for it to ask me to update. Thats was my only issue and since it's running fine Im cool.

At least you had backups. Somehow, I managed to delete two years worth of backups on my Time Capsule.

I've owned my MB Pro for a little over a year and I'm still getting used it. The last thing I want to do is start all over again. That being said, I'll probably give Lion a shot before the year is up.

The only advice like you've heard is to do backups so if it turns to crap you could just restore it. Lions pretty good it's just that they moved stuff around and improved in other areas but yea I'd wait at least a month or two for issues to get sorted out. People that are the early adopters are like the trailblazers for the one's not eager to jump into the fire sometimes. Lol
