Yes Das Boot is awesome!
U-571 is eh... Good 'story' not the best acting... And the REAL history its based on is awesome! Crimson Tide is a good movie. The Hunt For Red October is still my all time fav sub movie though... Down Periscope is a comedy classic lol.

Definitely. My father was in subs and so was my grandfather, he was actually based in Pearl when it was bombed.

Yeah, he was actually stationed in a watch tower and was going on duty just as the first wave came in. He was on one of the first subs out of there afterwords and on subs ever since. I'm actually in the process of putting his war memoirs and photos I've found into a book for my family.
