haha, i wasn't trying to do any ownage. it's a lot harder to DDoS a site than you'd think. Especially when you factor in that most "production websites" have load balancers that balance clusters of webservers, database servers and application severs. So any given site, you'd have to take down about 5 or 6 servers to have any impact. The largest attack I've mitigate was about 2 Gigabits!!! that's a whole oc-48 circuit....redonculous.

how it works 1 create virus 2 infect computers 3 virus logic calls home to who created it 4 user has all infected computers at his disposal now, imagine wanting to use those computers to mess up someone's site or whatever. Are you going to let anyone have what you worked on for free? I doubt it. As crazy as it sounds, having control of a botnet is a pretty lucrative cash making business.

just imagine having 3 computers with identical info on then and a device ( loadbalancer ) in front of said computers.
when someone makes a connection to a website the LB will send new connections to different computers....balancing the load of connections...just an example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_balancing_(computing)
