I remember reading about this little tidbit:

Unfortunately, a couple of thieves in Brazil recently attacked a woman and cut off her waist length hair with a machete. When sold, this hair could fetch as much as $500. Apparently, this happens every so often in Brazil. So, if you’re traveling there make sure you hide your long hair.

I think I'll mark Brazil off my list of "Places I need to visit before I die"

I've been to Brazil 3 times. It's pretty nice if you go to the right places but it's really bad if you find the other areas.

No, for the most part, when I've been there, they love us.

You have to keep in mind though. You go out to dinner and go to a really really nice restaurant. You get hte full treatment and then the bill comes and its chump change. You leave a tip of 20% and they damn near have a heart attack at how generous you are.
