Well what I gathered, was they have installed a few themselves and done there own dynos and gotten some good gains (5-10 at least), but they are in Cali and I am in Texas (weather/humidity/etc.)

% gain should still be similar. If the weather was a factor, it would be a factor in the baseline as well as the final dyno for both sets.

Which by % would have still gotten the same gains if you had the car and the intakes dyno'd in the same type of climate. So there has to be some other factor that contributes to such a loss. Just to add to what caravan said

yup, they may have dyno'd 10 hp higher on baseline than you (assuming same dyno type, but worse conditions for you), but then you would assume that if they made 8 hp, you should make 7.

Well the major change from each dyno was the AF mix, stock was around 12.5 while with the intakes we were down in the 11-11.5 range.

if thats the case, those intakes are making you run rich, robbing you of hp and gas mileage. Sounds like their tube diameter is effed up causing the mass air flow sensor to read that more air is coming in than is actually coming in, and is dumping extra fuel in.

so you would have been running a little leaner which would have contributed to a slightly higher dyno, not lower. Nothing too significant but I would think it wouldn't have dropped.

lower air to fuel ratio is running richer

I was talking about the car's initial dyno. But after reading that, I can see the confusion. Yeah intakes would have cause the car to run rich where as the intitial dyno w/o intakes was leaner. That's where I was going with that lol.

ahh, ya it sounded like you were talking about the intakes making it run leaner.
technically, a good intake will make it run a little leaner, but not to the point that they risk detonation

Or in my case....a dead cat. I guess you could say...I had a real "Cat"-back exhaust for 24 hours.
Yeah, ok, fine...I hear the chirping of the crickets.

you're right on that. I mean ultimately I have read/see/learned that the best AF mix to try to reach is between 10.5 and 11.2 giving you the best output w/o risking some kind of interior destruction. Or maybe that's just with FI. Can someone clarify that?
