Best state for an automotive enthusiast to live in?

Wanted to know in your opinion guys what state you think would be the best for an automotive enthusiast to live in and why?

Not cali because of emisions and crappy expensive gas

Mike 06-13-2011 07:49 PM

Georgia is pretty good.
Car scene almost as big as SoCal
Lots of great mountain roads
Easy access to several road courses within 6 hours driving distance.

Definitely not VA, that state hates driving :p

Maybe Texas since they have high speed limits.

We have some great scenic twisties including Skyline drive but there are state and local cops everywhere running radar. They also hate tint and will ticket for lous exhausts.

Texas is very good, downside is you have to travel far usually for the best roads otherwise it is just flat. Though modifying cars, other enthusiasts, etc. are very prominent in Texas and welcome.

With mods in Texas most cops in big cities won't mess with you, but if youre an outsider in a small town. Any reason to pull you over an bring a little income to the local economy will do. It's also a good way to check you out and let you know they're watching you.

Isamu 06-13-2011 11:36 PM

most for sure, not North Dakota

Boost_lee 06-13-2011 11:36 PM

Large cities in TX are good.

Only thing that sucks is attending any meets that are larger than local meets (statewide or national). Driving to the TX border from here sucks.

Arizona is a great state for mods

Ive seen that there are a few shops located in arizona but are there any tracks or roads there or around there?
