I did it for 3 weeks and felt better than ever before. I stopped because I traveled for the holidays and couldn't get back on the bandwagon. I followed the diet (vegetables and water were hard to get enough of/forgot) and it's sooo much protein it gets kind of expensive -- but seriously.. after a couple weeks I felt amazing and was doing pullups on my office door for fun.
The protein is important because after you destroy the crap out of your muscles, the protein is what rebuilds it. And keep eating. Otherwise, you are just letting your body use muscle mass as fuel. I think I'm inspired to get back into it for the summer activities

I started it a year and half ago. I didn't have to lose any weight. I was 5'5 and 130lbs. Now im up to 141ish. I was fit, but a bit flabby in spots. I acctually gained weight. By day 180 I gained 11 lbs of muscle. I've maintained this weight since. It's all about diet. If you want size lift heavy. Also crank out the pull ups. When the pull ups get easy attach weight to yourself.

I've been working out for a year now, basically on my own routine. I went from 210lbs to about 172lb currently. I've gotten to the point where I'm healthy and no longer gasping for air while running. I use to run an 18 minute mile, sad I know. Now it's closer to 8-1/2min. I've gained muscle and currently around 18% body fat. It seems like I've leveled off with just my current routine and I want to get ripped. Do guys have any tips on how to loose more body fat? Is P90x worth it? And is it something you only do at home?

P90x is worth it. The diet is a big thing though. You don't have to follow it to a tune, but you have to have a clean diet. I have nothing but great things to say about my time with P90x.

Starting it in 3 weeks once my best friend and I finish our weight lifting routine. He's been on it before and I saw serious results in both leaning out and building muscle in him. We're currently doing full body weight lifting routines to build (2 month cycle) then switching back to p90 to cut for the next 90 days.
My friend was 40, about 5'10" and 185 in ok shape (not overweight but no muscle tone) when he started. Don't know his weight now but he is pretty cut everywhere but his stomach. I'm 34, about 5'8" and was a very lean 155ish. At about 163 with much more definition in my arms and chest now (still need a lot more in my chest), but still unhappy with my stomach. Hoping for an end of summer goal of a cut 170 and washboard abs. I think cycling between weight training and p90 is a really good solution for people looking to gain cut muscle, rather than just mass. BTW neither of us follow the diet, but thanks to my Vietnamese girlfriend we both eat very well with low carb diets, lots of fresh veggies and lean protein and limited sugar. |

Ab Ripper X will give you a good core stabilization workout, for sure.

P90x is not a program to get big and bulky. It's a program to cut fat and get fit. IMO it's an excellent (albiet overpriced) program. Most people just need that kind of motivation to achieve those results though. As far as submitting guys that are bigger and stronger, well... I have 2+ years of intense Krav Maga and Jui Jitsu training as well as a fair amount of Philipino martial arts and IMO there's trained and untrained. That's more of a determining factor for being able to "submit" someone than what body type they are. But one thing is certain. Fight training is a completely different type of conditioning. On the other hand, I wouldn't neccissarily say that bodybuilding is "pretty boy" muscle unless all you do is sit around all day without any cardio and put junk/juice into your body. On a whole, "bodybuilding" on a professional level isn't about "health" at all. But proper bodybuilding is and strength training absolutely has it's place for ALL sports. MMA included. Me... with heavy lifting combined with cardio and fight training... |

So do I...My motto is " I hate it, but I HATE IT!!!!" LOL! I still struggle with doing more than 20-22 reps per exercise. It's been an imaginary brick wall for the past 2-3 weeks. However, I find it easier to do Ab Ripper first before the regular workout.
