u pretty much nailed it, elmz. i kinda rushed into it and only went with the base cause i figured that would have been fine. knowing what i know now, and how shitty the weather has been for the past 2 months, i would have waited longer to save more and allow me some more leniency. i still love my car but yeah, there are some things i would change.

I know the feeling, because my 350 was a base model and all my buddies had the fully loaded ones. I really wanted to get the enthusiast model but at the time that was what I could afford. The reality is, no one really knows what model you have(besides Z enthusiasts). It's all in your head man. Besides, once you drop it and buy some rims and a few other accessories you'll be able to set yourself apart.

Especially cat and exhaust. Cuz you know stock, these cars are pretty damn quiet from an outside point of view.

I bought a Z now my father in law is talking about when he pays off his truck he's buying a porsche. He bought the truck cuz his other son in law bought an FX4 F250. So he had to go out and buy a F350 King Ranch With a lift kit. His son bought 5 acres of land so he turned around and bought 15. If I buy one gun he buys four.

In the end its his wallet and life savings that's shrinking competeing with everyone else. I don't really care. I'm happy with myself. I have a beautiful wife. A happy home and a wonderful family. I bought my car because I truly love nissan heritage. I love its quality and craftsmanship but mostly I love its performance. F*&k all other cars. Don't get me wrong. I love all sports cars. But my car is mine n I don't care what's faster or what other people think. In my circle I'm the only one with a Z. Everyone will always know I was the first one with a Z. So let whoever copy me or outdo me with a porsche. I could care less. I'm so confident in my driving abilities that I am pretty sure id spank my father in law in a GTI with a blindfold on. He drives like sh1t. Lol

Remeber this. We all die with the same thing we were born with. In the end materials ain't sh1t.

I bought mine pretty much bare bones and i know he would end up getting touring, nav, 19" rims and all that jazz. I can't help but be mad about it, i want to say something to him but i also don't want to come across as an *******. Hes a great guy and i have huge respect for him but its not something where we would work on our cars together or anything. He's not a car guy at all either. He told me the Zs only come in black(mine isn't black) and didn't know they even switched to the 370z. I don't want to be an ******* but i think if he got one it would kinda ruin it for me. What does everyone think if they were in my shoes?

he wants a sports car(more like his wife does) GT-R is too much but he did talk about liking porsche a lot too.

Why are you mad? Jealous that someone is not deserving? There are a ton of douchbags that have things that people probably feel they don't deserve. If you feel that way someone is probably feeling that way about you. Don't be mad, everyone is entitled. Don't let an outside factor affect your work.

Yep! HFC's was my first mod, a definite "must have."

What do you mean you figured you would have been fine? You are fine? What the hell is going on in your head?

Likely nothing going on up there in his head. The base model without sport package is great for folks who want to mod their car for show mostly (no LSD). You've got $3k to throw on wheels, a spoiler of your choice, tint the windows, and lower the car slightly. There you go...BAM, you've got a unique ride. Throw in an in-dash DVD player and some good speakers, maybe a custom leather kit and you've made your ride different than all the others. This wouldn't cost a ton of $ either and might even be possible for $3k or slightly more.

I don't get the OP and frankly don't care. Maturity is earned not given. He actually reminds me of a friend of mine. Too much ME ME ME ME ME

all of this boils down to the fact that i feel like i got ripped on the price i paid for my car i guess and ill probably never get over that fact. but at least i've learned from it for next time i purchase a car.

a buddy of mine is about to purposely buy bas 5.0 with 3.73 rear end because he wants t truly make it his own with the money he will be saving. I think he is smart too. I only bought a Nismo becasue i enjoy the way the kit looks and I got a great deal on it slightly used.

I've got a base with no sport. I bought it because I could get into one brand new at a great price point and then, as you suggest, mod it to my heart's delight, but that's not limited to showy mods. I'm doing aesthetic touches right now, because I don't want to mess with it before the warranty's up, but after that it may become my track toy. You can buy an LSD and better brakes after market, you know. The wheels and body kit are merely aesthetic mods. And SRM is ok, but not necessary to enjoy the vehicle imo.

It's just money...:driving:

I paid slightly under invoice for my '11. Could have done better but I wanted a specific model and was willing to pay more for it (had to be shipped). I don't really care that I could have saved a few hundred $ because in the end it means little to nothing. If $500 makes or breaks the car for you it probably isn't the best purchase to make at this point in your life.

Just curious...what did you pay?

Good purchase decision! :tiphat:

I wouldn't care to dive into modding the brakes and such, but that's my preference (not gospel). The sport package brakes are quite good from the factory, even without NISMO pads. Adding an LSD seems like a chore but some folks like that stuff. Back in the day I had a '99 Civic Si supercharged with a ton of mods and I did all the work myself. It was cool and I got that out of my system at the cost of $10k. Now I just buy what will make me happy and enjoy having a warranty too.

To each his own...that's what I love about car forums and sports cars in general. Each of us can do what we want and it's great to see folks modding the 370Z to get more from it. To be upset that someone else likes your car and wants to get one too just doesn't make ANY sense to me. If you want a unique stock 370Z you should go buy ALL of them. :yum:

:iagree: I love meeting car enthusiasts, especially if they're Z owners. I love to see what they did differently.
