Maisto 370Z repaint
5 Attachment(s)
I found a die cast model of the 370z today at Walmart. It started out silver (they also had blue), but no Blackcherry. even though I dabbled in models a little as a kid, that was many moons ago and I am not that versed in the art of painting. So, it was only $9.00 and I thought what the hell and got it and a can of spraypaint. The closest paint I could find was gloss burgundy. Not enough black in it. There were only 2 screws to undo and the body came right off. I taped all the windows and areas I didnt want painted. Attached are the photos.

Ha, that's awesome! This has me wondering where I can get some platinum graphite like paint and a model Z.

Im sure that your paint will be easier match than mine
|
Nice job! :)

that's pretty slick... I thought about pickin up one of those transformer 370z's and doing MB :0
|
Thanks for the good words both of you. Yeah, I wanted one of those transformer ones too. If only I had a better color match.

Would you guys be interested in 1:18 scale 370z's painted bodycolor? lol
|
Yes depending on cost

Damn they don't have any 1:18 scales yet :(

walmart huh? what is the brand? so i know what to look for....black cherry here as well, and i also used to build model cars when i was younger....if i'm not mistaken, i think i remember Testers used to have a dark cherry color spray paint.....i'll have to hit up the hobby shop
edit:: just saw the title and it says the brand.....my bad. |
If you find that testers paint and it's close let me know. I just might have a redo on the color.

Tamiya sells a higher quality 1:24 scale 370Z model kit if you guy are are interested in building your own Z. However it's a curbside kit so no engine details or anything like that. :(
I was really hoping they'd do a full kit, and that AutoArt or Kyosho would release 1:18 scale diecasts of the 370 (They have a billion different 350 diecasts) but it's been over two years and nothing yet. :( |
this color, matched with a black base cost...MIGHT get it very close to black cherry....but you'll have to put base coat since it's the candy color is transparent...

Or, you could go through the trouble of going to an automotive paint supply shop to get colour matched metal paint. They might be able to put it in a spray can for you, if you don't want/have an airbrush.
I have a Tamiya 1:24 but I'm painting mine 40th quartz. Tamiya has a gunmetal that looks pretty close to the 40th colour, so I lucked out. |
