Am I the only one who hates loud motorcycles?
I live in a "blue collar" city in the suburb (I don't want to offend anybody by using the re word). There are stupid Harleys everywhere. They are loud/annoying and are a$$holes in general. Is it me or am I the only one that hates them? I just got on the computer 15 minutes ago, yet I can hear 8 of them driving by with my brand new vinyl windows closed!!! The sad part is that I live .25 miles away from the main road they are driving on! I am so pissed off that I just wrote a letter to the police department and the mayor. Am I the only one that hates these guys?
I hate loud cars just as much as loud motorcycles, I hate getting raped in the ears. |
It's labeled "noise pollution", it's very hard to get away from! Why do motorcycles have to be so loud anyway? Ninja bikes, I love the sound. But the Harleys sound is way over done.

I live between Daytona Beach and Orlando, so I definitely get my fair share of loud motorcycles. They use to piss me off more than they do now. I've mostly changed my opinion on it basically just for the reason that I know many of them say one of the reasons they like them loud is solely for the fact that it make others more aware of them. Being in a smaller car, I can totally see their point and agree with them. I know I've seen plenty of people on this forum alone say that is one of the positives about having a loud exhaust.

Growing up in Milwaukee, it was impossible to get away from loud Harleys. I could never stand them, and that hasn't changed to this day. It only pissed me off more when I found out Harley had that specific sound copywritten, and designed their engines and exhaust to make it, no matter what.

I don't pay that much attention to them

I don't care until I start thinking about aftermarket exhaust and realize that an aftmarket exhaust on my car is illegal if it is louder than OEM exhaust. But most are still not as loud as Harleys are. They these law makers want keep vehicles quiet than they need a decimal limit.
Can we say double standard? |
I live in an affluent neighborhood and my neighbor two houses down on my cul de sac has a loud *** Harley. He leaves for work at 3:30-4am every morning. :icon17:
|
I own a loud a$$ Harley, the reason is b/c people everywhere change lanes and NEVER turn there heads to see if there is no one there.
I too sometimes leave for work @ 5:30am,I'm sure my neighbor's don't appreciate it but I try to short shift it to keep the RPM's down that's the best I can do. But do I feel bad having loud exhaust "HELL NO" it has saved me from serious injury, for those that don't like it I say to each there own, everywhere I've lived cops will bust the crotch rockets balls but never once have I been harassed or pulled over for loud exhaust.:tiphat: |

See, this is the same thing I've heard many biker's say, and I can completely understand where they are coming from. |
I know a few guys who had built or bought custom bikes and they can be done tastefully, but I do hate choppers/Harleys that are ear splittingly loud. Not only do they deafen you as they drive by, but the exhaust sound itself sounds terrible in my opinion (just noise).
Not all choppers or Harleys are like that, but many are in my area. Sadly for them, CA emissions standards and equipment are going to hit those guys hard soon enough which is only fair in my opinion. |
Yeah I don't mind the noise either. Some of them can sound pretty good. I do understand the safety concerns too... Too many people don't pay attention to motorcycles.
