Haha, the Mid-A guys can testify to the fact that I don't speed...

But don't get me on speed limits. They are failing at what they've been intended to do for quite a while since the metric used to set them is still based on car performance in the 80's.

yeah, unfortunately im still afraid if they do change the limits, cus as cars get better/safer drivers are seemingly getting dumber (Atlanta is baaaaad. when it rains, and they go slower, they feel cus they are going slower they can ride even closer to the bumper of the car in front). Because once you start putting limits based on the performance of cars, you really should do it based on the driver... but then how do you judge/monitor.. more electronics? more camera's? sensors? limiters? eventually.. we wont even drive. ugh. Dont like this path...

Haha, I actually don't download stuff, and I'm pretty straight edge. Perhaps I'm the wrong person to look at though.

A super loud exhaust is just impolite, and shows you don't have any concern for people around you.

Speed limits were supposed to be set to the 80th percentile of free-flowing traffic. They are now set at around the 35th percentile... epic fail

As I said before, you are welcome to rape your own ears. Why is it okay for you to rape my ears? What gives you the right to make mine bleed? It is stated pretty clearly in the EPA about mufflers and their use. Some states have stricter requirement than others. If you choose to break the law, that is your choice. While you might never be caught, but you choose to put yourself over the rest of society. Isn't that the definition of selfishness and narcissism? I am not Mr. Perfect, but I choose to minimize my negative impact to society to the best of my ability.

I believe I had said this rant isn't just about bikers, stupidly loud cars are just as guilty. If you relax and stop getting so defensive, perhaps you can read the entire thread and see where I am coming from. I believe I also apologized for generalizing as I know there are not guilty parties out there. Of course there are people admitting they have the loud a$$ ones and they are proud of it, I rest my case.

I've been to the track to speed, something Harleys can't do. I do have to admit it would be interesting to see how Harleys handle the uphill esses, corkscrews and all the other fun turns around North America.

You can call me all the names you want. I have had 20+ cars, I have heard every good and bad terms tossed at me and the cars. I honestly don't give a crap as I am past the point where I have to use a car to get people to look at me (going back to the loud pipes).

Cus ya know. just sayin... your thinking that your own opinions and thoughts are the way things should be.. and F-All to everyone else.

Speaking of social responsibility, how about going around stereotyping all bikers are narcissistic SOB's... thats socially responsible. On that same level of responsibility, I think people who drive blue z's and prius's are self-righteous opinionated SOB's.

:p

Im just playin around if you cant tell.

But really, lots of things you dont like, just gotta deal. Unless your sleeping in the street next to the bike as it starts up and drives off, its not actually "raping" your ears or "hurting you". you just happen to hear it.

see once again, self righteous. So you breaking the law where you choose isnt a big deal compared to others who choose to break the law where they choose.

So a guy who does nothing but charity work and help others, but drives a harley is a selfish narciccist by your definition. Boy I wish Mother Teresa drove a harley, I woulda called her a selfish narciccist when I met her back in the day.

im not getting defensive actually, if you read my posts im just playing the other side. I dont have a bike or a loud car. in fact, i like quiet cars myself. But i dont go around telling people that just cus its not my cup of tea that what they enjoy shouldnt exist. If your gonna call them out based on "law" then you sure as hell better obey every single law yourself.

and I didnt call you a name, i made a generalization about people who drive blue z's and prius's. Similar to the one you made about people with loud cars/bikes. But we can move past that as you apologized.

Since you dont know me, i dont take things like this seriously. I was watching hockey last night and responded during commercials. /shrugs

in fact, im at work now and their avaya system is down, so im sittin around going hrmm.

oh well, need to go read the other new posts over night!

haha love that south park episode....hilarious. I live in Philadelphia and my apartment is right next to a parking lot in olde city. On Friday and Saturday nights a group of 20 or so bikers just hang out all night in this parking lot and rev their engines till 3am. It's the worst thing in the world lol

cossie1600 04-19-2011 11:07 AM

I was watching the hockey games too, love the playoffs. Since i am back at work, i am not going to get into this again. You just don't get it apparently. It's funny given the title of this post was specific to loud motorcycles, you can lump the cars in i guess.

Let's not get started with the lame charity drives. With the gas they burn, they can easily donate a few hundred bucks to the charity.
