Right now I see the coast guard using it as an interdiction weapon. A boat does stop lase it's engines.
Without the scifi explosions from laser hits they realign lose a lot of coolness

that was only the 14 kV demonstration. They lazed it for about 3-5 secs and boom one motor down then the motor caught on fire then the other one did. The navy has a 100 kV laser system on battleships and carriers and can burn through 20ft of Steel a Second!!!! not a typo 20ft/sec!!!!

Now you can see why the Government doesn't have any Friggin money because out of all the motors they want to burn, they decide to burn whats seems to be BRAND SPANKING NEW Mercury 200's that cost roughly anywhere from $12-16k each ! Stupidity (but that is a pretty cool laser)
