Cadillac Production Line: Nissan Production Line: Couldn't they at least tell the guy working on the $50k Caddy to put a shirt on with sleeves for this photoshoot?

I see nothing wrong with it, honestly. I assume assembly workers dress confortable like that, and really peg the Nissan plant as being too stuck up requiring them to wear uniforms. But, to each their own, doesn't affect the car's production in any way.

Reminded me of an episode of Top Gear
"This is made by two fat blokes in Kentucky." -Jeremy Clarkson speaking about the Corvette ZR1

The local Honda plant here has a mandatory dress code. Everyone from the new guy to the head of the plant have to wear the same white jump suit with a Honda hat. And that uniform is not allowed to leave the building.

Really though, doesn't bother you even a little? If you had a choice between two doctors to deliver your baby. Both with equal education and experience, one wearing a cut-off tee and jeans and the other wearing a uniform. You'd be choose the cut-off tee guy because he looks comfortable?

I' m not implying level of skill or otherwise. I'm just saying appearances do matter a little bit. Even if it's just a perception.

If a doctor dressed like that, in most cases, yeah, I'd be worried/angry/skeptical. |

Uh... a doctor delivery a baby is completely different than a person working on a car. Totally, completely, and ridiculously different. I can't believe you even made that comparison.
For one, doctors have to be sanitary, and a cut off shirt is not sanitary. Sure, the latex gloves are the most important part, but when dealing with living people, germs, and fluids, a cut off shirt isn't sanitary in the slightest bit. Hell, surgeons have nurses wipe their brows with cotton held by a friggin pair of clamps. Edit: That being said, I have dealt with doctors wear T-shirts under their doctor coat, and that doesn't bug me. Last edited by Anatoray; 04-01-2011 at 07:39 PM. |

I understand what he is saying. It seems that the Japanese have more pride in the work, especially the ones made in Japan. When the last time you heard of a Japanese car not being good because it was built on a friday LOL. Or a Japanese car having some kind of foreign object left or stuck somewhere in the car.

I have to wear a uniform, but would wear shorts and a T-shirt if permitted. If you were stuck in an elevator you would be happy to see me either way.
