Have you handled the pistol before?

You probably want to go to a gun store and check out a bunch of different offerings to see what fits you best, especially since you are planning on carrying.

I was intent on getting a Springfield XD9SC for carry but I tried it and hated it. Got a Glock 26 instead which was the perfect feel for me.

If you are on a budget, make sure you know the price of the gun before you pick it up. I had full intentions of only spending around 600, but spent over 1000 after trying out my sig.

Walmart does typically have the cheapest price on ammo. I'm not sure if you get the big gun shows in your area but that is always the cheapest place to find ammo. In Utah Theres one every 2 0r 3 months and I usually can get a 1000 rounds of 180 gr 40 S&W for $160 bucks. For your AR Typically going with the 55GR FMJ will be the cheapest and like others have said stay away from wolf and other brands like them. If you really find that you enjoy shooting reloading your own ammo is always the best way to go you can prob reload 1000 rounds of 40 S&W for around $100 give or take depending on powder and primers you use 1000 rounds of .223 55gr FMJ can be reloaded for about $120 to $150. Good luck and happy shooting

I purchased at last duty station so I paid no taxes. I usually buy ammo on a couple different Internet sites.

I really like the pistol. With the medium size hand- grips, fits my hands perfect. Shot some glocks also, but went to this instead but can't remember specific reasons.

My initial intentions were to carry, but I think the only carrying i'd actually do is to have it with me in the car when I go on travels and possibly have it on me when I am in a strange area. Although, i'll take the CC class just to have it.

I never handled it because I only knew about it while I was out here in afghanistan but will definitely check it out and others when I get back.

I would steer clear of the Wolf if you plan on keeping this weapon for many years to come which it sounds like you will since it will be a memento.

AR's require clean burning ammo. If you want cheap ammo, go with Radway green, South african surplus in the green totes or that south korean stuff in the tan battle packs. It's fairly cheap and build to NATO specs.

I've seen some super high pressure failures with Wolfe blowing out extractors and such. Shoot decent ammo unless it's an AK, they are made to shoot wolf ammo. The lacquer finish (older Wolf ammo) or polymer coating(newer Wolf ammo) on the steel cases keeps them from rusting, but it transfers onto the chamber and over time will cause your chamber to run out of Saami spec.

everything I buy/own I baby them.

It was suggested by another member to get PMC rounds, which went for about $147 for 500rnds. Looked good.

Any suggestions?
