Yeah, saw that, but they're just cars. I'm more concerned about the people. Fond memories of Japan and the people I worked with.

Focus just slightly below the middle of the image. There is a Red one with about 10 or so cars right behind it.

I agree 100%. I just thought it was odd that one of the MANY pictures posted up by the many news agencies just happened to be other very cares we all love. When you consider all ther other images that could have been posted.

Damn, didn't realize those were all Nissans. I remember a number of years ago a big container ship full of Mazdas sunk. I would guess this is probably worse. But I'm sure Nissan's got all of those suckers insured.
I wonder how many forum members orders are going to be delayed because their cars were destroyed on the docks. Still, a trivial thought considering the loss of life. What a terrible situation.

Somehow, 30 below with a wind this morning doesn't sound so bad.
Incredible devastation.

The aftershocks are bigger than most regular earthquakes. They just had a 6.6 magnitude aftershock.

i was actually terrified for a while when i saw the reports of a fire in a nuclear plant. i'm glad all of the safety mechanisms worked without a hitch and they're all off. people are saying gas and running water aren't too affected, telephony and electricity are in and out. altogether, it shows japan was actually decently prepared for a heavy-hitting earthquake. compounded by the tsunami though...yeesh. they reported 8.4 this morning, updated to 8.9...could easily by 9.0+ earthquake by the time we're done analyzing it. the aftershocks are going to be ridiculous. one of the professors at the university of ireland (i know, weird source, but i watch the bbc a lot) was saying aftershocks / tremors of magnitude 6-8.0 can be expected. |

If there were two races I'd want to rebuild something, quickly, efficiently (cost and otherwise), and methodically: it would the Japanese and the Germans. They get it done like no other.

We'll be there helping them, too. Don't forget that.
