I was worried about this also. That's probably there biggest issue next to the people and towns that got damaged.

Yah, but im really glad the international community and our #1 ally is lending japan a hand. Sending that many warships and carriers in the area will maintain high level of confidense in self defense too while the country is in its very vulnerable state. :) :usa:

I saw that. They said it had been building since January and now lava started spewing. That's thing, alot of this is common there also being they call it the ring of fire. Just hope for the best it doesn't turn bad.

Vegitto-kun 03-14-2011 03:26 AM

reactor 3 exploded just like reactor one.

japan really is ******.

tom did some research and discovered powerhouse amuse is located in chiba. which is pretty much center of the damaged zone.

there goes my vestito kit for several months. :shakes head:

damn you nature.

(prepares for flames of rage and disgust) :stirthepot:

Vegitto-kun 03-14-2011 07:11 AM

They have lost controll over reactor 3. cooling the fuel rods went wrong and they have been exposed to air and this is causing them to heat up extremely fast.

total meltdown is very possible now.

17 american marines exposed to radiation. and the american fleet is leaving the area around the plant because of the large levels of radioactivity.

kenchan 03-14-2011 07:19 AM

Chiba is the florida looking peninsula east of tokyo. If they were near the refinery your kit may be up im smoke. Narita airport is in Chiba and I think incoming flights are accepted...so they are not near the epicenter....unless something happened to amuse from the aftershocks. Its still rocking significantly.

phelan 03-14-2011 10:25 AM

chiba is nowhere near the epicenter of all this. it's slightly further south, and east of tokyo. it is probably got walloped pretty bad because it's basically on the coastline too, but it's nowhere near as bad as it is in sendai.

very good map from the BBC:

the thought of nuclear meltdown in japan just depresses me to no end...

SoCal 370Z 03-14-2011 10:52 AM

So many factors of devastation that the rebuilding process--on all fronts--is likely to be much longer than expected. Sad.

Vegitto-kun 03-14-2011 11:06 AM

this is looking bad guys

Japanese officials say the nuclear fuel rods appear to be melting inside all three of the most troubled nuclear reactors, according to Associated Press.

kenchan 03-14-2011 12:56 PM

vegitto- chiba has some significant damage in some areas. a lady that just got back from her trip to japan this am mentioned to my in-laws that she had to WALK 5 frikken hours to get to the hotel near the airport the previous day because roads were closed, trains shut-down, etc.
