i saw that in my newspaper yesterday, i would have flipped a **** if that happened to me. He broke his window getting the ice off

I don't understand. The other side of his car was totally exposed, down to the door. Why didn't he start the car, turn on the heat, and let the warmth on the inside and engine bay warm up the ice?
Something similar happened to my Audi (coincidentally), and that's what I did. After about 10-15 minutes, the ice on the rear window had melted (defrosters) and all I had to do was wipe it off. And the ice on the side windows had warmed where a single swipe with my hands caused it to fall too. The roof and hood were warm enough where the snow/ice mixture would just slide off in massive sheets. |

Well, it probably didn't help that at least two of his wheels/tires were completely encased in ice as well. I don't think heating up the car would of helped melt that ice much.

You'd be surprised. As long as the bottom layer of ice is warmed up a bit, it will just slide off. Like I said, I had essentially the same thing happen to me.

A main water line broke and that is why his car got frozen.
