1997 Volkswagen Jetta VR6

Omg is this person serious?

shabarivas 01-25-2011 05:34 PM

Pretty sure he has an extra 0 in there - or two

cheshirecat 01-25-2011 05:39 PM

This is a deal if I've ever seen one.

Lemers 01-25-2011 05:44 PM

What you would pay $30k for the same type of VW that was
Featured in F&F?

blue660r01 01-25-2011 06:02 PM

Has to be a typo and is meant to be 3k

ky0u 01-25-2011 06:08 PM

Thats what everyone thought at first. She's completely serious. 30,000. it's not a typo. Bunch of the members at vwvortex responded to her email and she's dead set on her asking price. She insists her car is rare bc it was one like the model used in the fast and the furious. States that it has a porsche v6 engine under the hood and swears she had her engine rebuilt (from one end to the other) for 22k. "Less the 1500 of these are left in driveable condition"
These are among the things she said to me in response to my email xD

o.o

blue660r01 01-25-2011 06:13 PM

Im about to email her

I approached it sort of innocent so far by saying

Hi I recently saw your Jetta listed on Craigslist and am interested in another car. Can you tell me more about it? For starters I dont understand the "Fast and the Furious" comment. Does this make it special? Also, $30,000 seems steep are you willing to budge?
I'll keep you updated when I respond to her response.

Jordo! 01-25-2011 06:36 PM

way to :stirthepot: hahaha

Lemers 01-25-2011 07:06 PM

It's not even the car that was in F&F. Why would she think that the car is more valuable because of a movie? So now in 14 yrs yellow camaros should sell for $90k because of the transformers movies?

Junior370z 01-25-2011 07:42 PM

I'm about to buy it right now! That rare model is faster than my Z!:roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

SOLRAC 01-25-2011 08:16 PM

hahahaha i can't believe this girl..mmm soo my car is more spensive now?the 370z is in GT5 ...im selling my car right now

lmao

I currently have 5 car collectors bidding against each other for the car. It’s an extremely rare automobile.

If you never saw the movie, “The Fast and the Furious” with Vin Diesel then you wouldn’t understand the reference but go rent the movie and then you’ll understand. The car is identical to the one in the movie except that this one is black instead of white.

The car has a Porsche 6 cylinder fully ported fuel injected engine in it with a top speed of over 150 mph. This is not a normal Jetta. There were only 5,000 original models of this particular VR6 built and never repeated again after 1997. There are less than 1500 left in drivable condition as of this date.

This is not a car to drive to work in or to the grocery store. This is a car to take to car shows. It’s an investment like Jay Leno does in cars and motorcycles.

The current collector has gone way over the original price of $30,000 and has sent me a deposit for his bid of $50,000.

Still interested?

Lemers 01-25-2011 08:33 PM

This is a bunch of BS. I don't see the more desirable VW R32 going for those prices

Red__Zed 01-25-2011 08:39 PM

Voted for best of craigslist.

ky0u 01-25-2011 08:40 PM

Current collector offering 50k? That's total bs. She said she had 5 "collectors" and she stated in her email to me i was number 5 xD I offered 30k. No one who responded is even actually a collector but i guess responding automatically makes you one

Did she take the 20k left over after actually rebuilding the motor and have them hide it IN the engine?

I might offer a trade for another car from F&F...:happydance:

Xan 01-25-2011 08:47 PM

Or this one, it's white just as F&F! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/689662...lkswagen-jetta

theDreamer 01-25-2011 08:53 PM

Ooooo...might have to get in on this.

ky0u 01-25-2011 08:54 PM

But it's not the same one!!!! It doesnt have a porsche v6 vr6 v6 engineeeeee!!!!!11one1!!

blue660r01 01-25-2011 08:57 PM

Got bored and didn't want to think of an awesome message and just send this instead

Quote:

So maybe you want to bump up the price since the guy who drove the car in the movie died!

No, I am not interested. First off, the Jetta isn't white so therefore it isn't like the one in the movie. Second, it is in no way related to what you think it is. Nobody is going to buy a car because its in a movie and it surely wont raise the value. Are you saying a 350z is worth 60k because it was in Tokyo Drift? Is the new Camaro worth 90k because it was in Transformers? Where did you come up with your information that there are only 1500 in drivable condition?

You may want to do a little bit of research before you try to SCAM people on here. Not everyone is as stupid as you think they are. By the way, Jay Leno isn't dumb enough to waste money on a Jetta.

blue660r01 01-25-2011 08:57 PM

Crap! Next message I will

ky0u 01-25-2011 09:00 PM

"I suppose it would be a matter of the first one with cash at this point and as long as you aren’t telling me that I have to send money to you in order to “seal the deal”. I’m not stupid and I don’t make deals to sell something by sending money to the buyer.

So make me an offer at this point and then I’ll let you know.

Just don’t try to scam me because I wasn’t born yesterday.

Stephanie"

Got this in response to me telling her that i would be willing to beat the other collectors

Best part of the email: I’m not stupid

ThoriumHotdog 01-25-2011 09:07 PM

Tell her Frankie Muniz might want it since he bought the actual Fast and the Furious Jetta. Oh, he only paid a 100k for it.

"That doesn’t mean, however, that Frankie isn’t having a little fun.
“I bought a couple of cars,” he says, including the $100,000 Jetta from the movie “The Fast and the Furious,” and a rare Porsche that cost him $250,000."

Hi,

You may have heard of me. My name is Frankie and I was in a little show called 'Malcolm in the Middle', which was hugely successful. Anyway, I purchased the actual VW Jetta from the Fast and the Furious movie. It's totally tricked out with a Playstation, flatscreens, and awesome paint. I love the car. I also own a couple Porsches but the F&F Jetta (LOL) has got me into the modding scene. I really want to find a quality Jetta to build from the ground up and I think your car may be the one!

I'm willing to pay your asking price and maybe even a premium if you can drive it to California. Please contact me as soon as you can. You can also contact my lawyer at xxx@xxxxxxx.com if you'd like to verify my identity.

Thank you,

Frankie Muniz

Her reply to me.

Quote:

.Originally my significant other and I were going to keep the car and take it car shows ourselves but she has a relative how dying in California so we’re moving back to California and getting rid of everything to move back there so we’re not wishing to acquire anything new. As a matter of fact we’re going to sell our other car, a 2001 Lincoln LS (not a collector car by any means but a nice car nonetheless), when we get closer to the move.
*
If you’re interested in seeing the car then let me know. It’s at the restoration shop in Chiefland, Florida where it recently got finished. I chose the mechanic carefully because I’ve known this guy for years and he does premium work on all sorts of very rare cars.
*
One of the stunt driver’s for The Fast & the Furious has seen this particular car and fell in love with it. He lives over in Orlando and owns a repair shop but has too many cars as it is or he said he’d love to own it as well.
*
Today has been a rough day over this car with receiving a lot of very rude and obscene emails over the car from people who think this is just another Jetta. The last one called me “a f*cking moron” and that I was trying to scam people.
*
It hurts to think that people think I’m trying to do that. I have the bills to show I spent more than $20,000 restoring this car. We love this car and it hurts a lot to get rid of it but it’s just easier to get rid of as much as we can before we move. My significant other has had this car for years and she made me promise that the car would go to a true collector who would take care of it and that’s what I’m trying to do. She doesn’t want to see it wrapped around a telephone pole.
*
If you want to see it then let me know

blue660r01 01-25-2011 09:56 PM
