Thanks to everyone for your nice thoughts.

She did have a pretty good life. I rescued her from a kid that had no idea how to take care of a goldfish, much less a dog, when she was about six months old. When she was 5-6 yo, I had an Australian Cattle Dog puppy given to me and she got to be the Alpha Bitch of our little pack. She would stretch out in the sun, in a Sphinx-like pose, surveying her kingdom, ready to repel all cats, squirrels, and any other critters that might try to invade the back yard.

Sure gonna miss her.

Sounds like she was lucky to find you. Thanks for all you did for her. These are my little rescues. BooBoo & Sophie....

BooBoo (Brown Dog) was recovered in a drug raid in Tampa. His owner tied him to the bumper of a car with no food or water for months. He tried to make him vicious but BooBoo wouldn't turn. They beat him, broke his tail and kicked him in the face so hard he lost his teeth on one side. Turns out the car he was tied to was full of Crack & Pot. We got him just before they were going to destroy him after the case was completed. BooBoo is working on his therapy license. He is my son.

Sophie's owner was beaten and raped 3 times in front of her. The owner slipped into a coma and when the police caught the guy that did all this Sophie was locked up until the case was completed. 12 months in a kennel is as bad as it gets for a traumatized dog who was well taken care of by a loving owner. We got her as soon as the verdict was made. The guy is in prison for 30 years for attempted murder and rape, and the owner is still in a comma. Sophie is an athelete and love to run, she is most comfortable with girls and is still skiddish around men, but we are working on that. I have never had a dog as loving as her.

Neither of these guys are dog aggressive and have be awesome ambassadors for our breed. BooBoo goes to the VA and visits with the Marines every now and then. Sophie just took her good citizen test and past with flying colors.

Our last 2 rescues were therapy dogs for our daughter. Both were Staford Shire Terriers and were not allowed on base. We had to live off base just so my daughter who had seizures 9 times a day could have her early waring dogs with her. They saved her life more times than we have fingers and toes. I wish people would grow up and throw bad owners and destroy bad dogs, instead of being breed specific. Don't know what I would do with out these guys. Not an option for me!

Great looking am staffs nut! Always nice to see dogs with a sad history make it into a good home.

They are great dogs-I always get frustrated by folks that judge by breed.

Not gonna lie, Nut N Much, that made me a bit teary eyed thinking about that dog tied up to a bumper and kicked. I'm so glad you made a difference in their lives. Thanks.

You are my hero! There are normal people and then there are the pet rescuers. You can't save them all, but you can make a big difference for a few.

Amen! I have known many Pit Bulls and they were all great companions. I have only seen a few bad dogs, but there are a lot of bad owners. Punish the deed, not the breed.

I know what you mean. My dogs have always been an integral part of the family.

Hey guys. Haven't even on in awhile. Found out this past Wednesday that my girl Sadie had extreme kidney failure, and for only being 2 years old and in such terrible condition, the only thing 3 different vets could come up with, is that she was born with under developed kidneys. Her blood work came back with ridiculously high levels of her BUN/creatinine. The vet said there was nothing we could have done because she had no signs of being sick really. Just a small loss of appetite and energy the last 3 weeks. She died last night, early morning at midnight. She had 2 seizures within an hour. One at home. One at the hospital. Then we had to put her to sleep. This was the last picture I got of her yesterday sleeping after we had a good walk around the neighborhood. She would have wanted me to tell all the other dog lovers goodbye because she always sat with me and wagged her tail and barked at all of the pictures posted here. R.I.P. SADIE Attachment 58230

This is just a funny pic I found from just a few weeks ago. Attachment 58231
