uhh, yeah, pretty much. only thing i'd add to that is that there are different legs of the race, and the lowest contenders of each leg have to compete in some vehicle challenge to get to keep going.

You get penalized for speeding if someone makes a big deal out of it. It's more about finding the location than speeding. You can't have anything but a paper map, so it comes down to navigating.

Back in the day I never had a gps, just a map and never had any trouble finding places. Funny that this is now a game show..

I'm still going to watch it, just need to get the Speed channel back.

I wasn't really expecting to get it into it when I watched it the first season, seemed kinda lame, but somehow I got into it. I think I like the challenges more than anything. Probably for moments like this:

You had to drive through the fence. The fence was the finish line. But they were supposed to turn as soon as they got out, and they didn't.
I think they said the reason they kept going straight was because they figured planning for the turn would slow them time. So going straight would give them a .0-whatever advantage.
