They've become instant classics BECAUSE they have nothing to do with chocolate (except that both ads use the Cadbury purply/blue colour), because they're simple and unexpected ...and because they are quite 'off the wall'.

I didn't post the Gorilla ad because for me the sound and visuals were slightly out of sync - but it was the first of the two to be broadcast.

It will be interesting to see if the creative who thought of them can come up with a 3rd advert that is as successful as the first two. He's made really successful ads for other companies too - eg Sony Bravia (rabbits).

When my grandfather and my uncle came from England(London now, but used to live in Aldershot idk if you know where that is Chubbs) to visit me and my father here in America, my dad bought a huge case of Cadbury Flakes for them....omg best chocolate ever

One of my favorite commercial of all time. So unique yet smart. When I saw the commercial for the first time, I really didn't get it but when I watched for the 2nd time, realized how clever the commercial was.

It's the uniqueness of the commercial that sells the product. Look at Geico for example.

Hey - very good one - I'm chuffed with myself because half way through the video I thought, "I wonder what the camera car is .....aaaaaaahhhh!"

As for Cadbury's Flake - all I need say is, "Only the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before!"

Come to think of it, this series of 1980's ads were also classics of their time. This may not be allowed in the UK today, because of its suggestion...
