Hey guys, I've recently launched a website and am currently trying to get it running at 100% and am working out any kinks it might have. I feel there might be some significant performance issues with it currently in terms of load times.

If anyone could please take a few seconds to go to this link

and tell me how quickly the page loaded up for you along with what browser you were using, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advanced!

lol no viruses man. I'm not trying to be shady. the site is the basis for a business I'm starting up and if it has performance issues, it'll have a direct effect on it's success.

Here's a virus total scan of the site if anyone has doubts:

Not bad... maybe a little request heavy (56 in all for a clean load). You might consider a sprite for several of the images to reduce requests.

Also, your total page weight is 6MB. This could hurt on a mobile device (which are becoming increasingly important). 4MB of that is from your background image! Change it to a 2px x 1050px and repeat it, thus reducing your page load by over half.

Curious, which javascript library are you using for the UI effects?

Thank for you input texas. Working on that now.
As for Javascript library, Can't remember what it was, but it started as a very small and basic piece of coding that I've spent months working on and expanding. It really doesn't resemble what i started out with anymore

What browser were you using to access the site?

The initial request seems to be what is killing it, 5-10 seconds here on a 50mbps connection. Once it starts loading the elements come up fairly fast so I would say the bottleneck is somewhere is your backend, e.g. database lookup.

Other than that I would say that you need to be a little more blatently obvious about the purpose of the site, some little blurt you can put in the top title next to the site name. E.g. "The Internet Marketing Resource".

Clicking on Misc ironically generates a 404 error.

Oh geez that's really bad. Thanks for the heads up!

EDit: figured out a lot of the bottle necking is coming from my webhost. Switching to a new one in a bit. Does anyone know how to streamline the javascript content on that page? I know a lot of resources are being used by loading it.

once again, thanks so much for the feedback so far

External JavaScript files are cached by most modern browsers.. So don't worry about that.. Use tools like fiddler and firebug's net panel to see pain points in file load and rendering.

I was on Firefox 3.6.11 at the time.

Check out browsershots.org..
