Yep, because a few companies tried to pass the R34 using the R33 DOT testing and the Feds found out and shut it down. A bunch of people lost what they thought was a US street legal R34, crushed and destroyed.

It's not like it's more dangerous than any other collector car. And the people who owned the cars obviously spent time to bring it in and make it 'legal', at least they thought they did. There should've been an option to just pay a fine and be done with it.
