I got a chance to play GT5 at SEMA yesterday... oh what a blast I can't wait :excited: Talked to the Sony rep and he said 'hopefully in the next few weeks' :rolleyes:. But in reality I believe he said they are shooting for Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Good info about the BestBuy pre-order. May have to go there, I have a gift card. I was in GameStop last week to pre-order a PC game and asked about GT5. The guy said it was delayed until Jan. I don't know if that's right but it made me laugh in disgust. If true isn't that like the 10000000000 push back?

No, actually only one "offical delay". From 11/02/10 to 11/24/10. The other dates mentioned were just speculation.

I think he's talking about the years worth of delays GT5 has experienced. I think Niv 2 was only the first solid release date given, but PD and Sony had given quarters, months, and seasons on several occasions.

i've had my pre-order from gamestop forever...im not holding my breath on the 24th til i see it on the shelves haha.

Well, I just pre-ordered a copy at Bestbuy last night. :driving:

I just picked up the PS3 Move bundle at Bestbuy for $349 and a copy of GT5 Prologue to tide me over until the 24th!

I wouldn't taint GT5 with prologue, if I were you. I say wait so its greatness has its full effect on you, because Prologue was over 2 years ago, and things have surely changed since then.

That's fine, I've been playing GT4 for the past week just to get back into it. Now I can play GT5 P for the next week and a half.

So, gamespot posted the list as an excel spread sheet, rather than linking to Sony's webpage list. This is what it spawned in the comments:

"Anyway it's strange that sony is trying to be a competition for xbox360 and is using ms office (???) to develop documents about their games. This doesn't make much sense or it may be an answer why playstation 3 is so much behind xbox360 and gt5 is not a real competition for forza. The porsche thing is also interesting. I know that GT has used the RUF variants of the Porsche models since the beginning. Back in the days if GT3, I learned they did that because Porsche had an exclusive deal with Need for Speed, but this days are long gone. So, does anyone have a theory on why GT5 still only features the RUFs?

EA sports holds the exclusive rights to license games with Porsche. EA can sublicense to other developers so they can have Porsche. But they will not sub license to Polyphony.

So EA won't sublicense to Polyphony, but will to Microsoft? That's unfair. I don't care much for Porsche either, but its hard to claim you're the complete race driving simulator when you can't even license a well known brand like Porsche, and a lot of people have been pointing it out.

Also, you have nothing to worry about; GT5 has way too many JDMs.

It's a shame about Porsche not being in the Gran Turismo series. The Carrera GT in Forza 3 is amazing.

Ok so that officially tops the most retarded fan boy comment of the year... Seriously? There isnt even a comparison between even GTprologue and Forza3. Its almost two very different games.

Oh - polyphony is using Microsoft software to market their game so they must be ages behind... lol. The amount of development time dedicated to GT5 is unheard of - now lets see if all that time actually translates to more of a simulator-ish feel. I love how the forza fans have already decided GT5 isnt for them. Many people here who have 370s hated em on paper when they came out (and when those said people had 350s lol). Just remember - time makes fools of us all.

I don't know about that. Let's not forget Duke Nukem Forever and its 12 year saga. There was also another game for the 360 that was originally announced for the PS1, haha. Forgot the name of the game, but it was made by Silicone Knights, involved a few law suits, and ultimately sucked hard.

As for GT5's lack of many cars from non Japanese manufacturers, we can only hope for some robust and substantial DLC.

The RUF's are in! They may not be premium but you will be able to drive a Porsche in that sense in GT5.

Anatoray, there is too much Euro/American cars in it for me:). I hope for more JDM. But they will probably give more US/Euro by DLC I would assume. I don't see GT5 claiming to be anything except a racing simulator. Not sure how that would tie in with Porsche at all. Plenty of races happen by cars that are not Porsche.

Its just kind of a blue when your slogan is "The real race driving simulator" and you can't sign the Porsche license. You have to think from the perspective of the average moron, who think GT games have no porsches at all, have no idea what RUFs are, and say sony got pwned.

Being a race driving simulator has nothing to do with the cars that are available int he game.
To be classified as a driving simulator, all you really need is the physics of how the car reacts in game.
There are PC games which are driving simulators that don't even use real cars but it's the physics of those cars that are important.

Again, man, think like the average joe gamer. Go look into it. Of course we're all understanding here, but we're also not the average when it comes to racing gamers. You have your fanboys, car ignorant, racing ignorant, and videogame ignorant all chiming in about every perceivable flaw.

Fanboys I don't bother with, but its disappointing to see people saying they won't buy the game now because the list has no "Porsches".
