What's a navigator?

Edit: never mind, I looked it up. Why didn't you go for pilot?

The afoqt is the test that determines if you qualify as a pilot, navigator, or other officer fields. If you are taking the test next Friday good luck get rest and eat good and do what ever you did for the SATs or ACTs. Also there are prep books with sample questions out there to use to get ready.

Good luck and I hope you qualify for pilot or nav. Right now the AF is not really freindly to non-rated careerfields.

Congrats, and good luck! I was a lowly enlisted guy, so I can't help with the test unfortunately.

I hated that test. Just make sure you are familiar with the math sections. Remember, you can't use a calculator. As someone else mentioned, pick up one of the practice books. I think barnes and noble should have them. It's kind of last minute, but get the book and practice each section. Not sure about the qualifications for Nav, but make sure you go over the pilot sections as well. What do you want to be a Nav on? Good luck!

Wow no calculator?

Ok I have a question is there any benefit to enlisting with a college degree?

I have an 8% change of making it as an officer says my recruiter.

That is pretty low, but I am sure that I want to join so is enlisting a bad idea? Will I have waisted my time on a college degree?

First, does you recuiter deal with officers and enlisted? Their "numbers" are based on enlistments not on OTS students. OTS is a whole lot of work with little credit. So take what he says with a grain of salt.

Two, the AF is letting officers go every year and they target non aviators

three, if you qualify for aviation our chances of being selected go way up

four, the are other services out there shop around and see what suits you the best

I was an AF officer that transferred to the Army and I'm glad I did as the environment in the AF is not the best right now.

There is no benefit to enlisting with a degree; enlisting is great, just don't expect them to care about your piece of paper. Personally I'd recommend holding out for an officer slot, unless there's some specific job you want to do that officers don't do.

If you spent your college career partying, then no, you didn't waste your time. If not, then yeah you wasted your time no matter what job you get.

Either way, just make sure you're talking to an officer recruiter. An enlisted recruiter is gonna blow smoke up your *** and try to get you to enlist. Seriously though, 8%? How the **** did he get that number?

Edit: Also, screw being a nav if you can be a pilot. Personal opinion here, but from what I've seen, being a backseater is all the shitty parts of flying and none of the fun. You do all the bitch work, plus you have some jackass up front trying to kill you.
