Garage Floor coating or covering
Well we are moving into a new house in the near future, and I decided that a covered garage floor for the Z would be a good idea instead of the ugly concrete. I'm just looking for suggestions and opinions here and there since currently I know nothing about the process or options available. Any help is appreciated!

I would like to do mine like this AutoDeck? - Portable Garage Floors, Interlocking Garage Floor Tiles, Modular Garage Flooring, Garage Floor Covering
|
I just purchased the stuff from home depot. got two kits (two car garage), and painted it grey w/ black/tan/grey specks sprinkled all over in the paint.
then I glossed it with the epoxy. an oil spill is SO EASY to clean up now. not one stain in my entire garage. mopping up is really easy too! and it was a cheap project...bout 150 bucks. |

its like painting a room. the hardest part is cleaning the garage out then putting down the acid and brushing it all around. Pain in the *** because you have to scrub with a broom for an hour. very tiring. after that its a breeze, just like painting a room. |
I did Ucoatit. about $900 for a 3.5 car garage though, so a little pricey. The only part that has peeled is lip outside of the garge. just the clearcoat though, the base coat is permanent. You put mix the first layer of base coat extremely thin, almost a watery consistency and it permeates into the concrete, then you do one more color coat, throw the flakes on while its wet and then a couple coats of clear urethane. Best product I have ever used. It has been down 8 years now.

Also did mine with one of the HomeDepot kits. Turned out good and I've only had one minor chipping problem which may have been my fault. I have pics in my gallery.

We did the kit from Home Depot. Biggest problem was clearing out the garage, finding some place to store the stuff for a couple of days, and cleaning the floor. Our place was built in 1988 and we did the garage back in 2005 or so. With the age of our floor, it was pretty hard on the cleaning part.

Dang Mike that looks real good. Looks like I have a decision to make between ucoat it and the home depot stuff.

it is more expensive, but its a truly quality product. I think the main thing that makes it much more durable is watering down the first base coat so it goes into the concrete. You could probably double up on a home depot kit and water it down to begin with and get the same result, but who knows. I have a chip in the concrete outside of the door, and the color is about an 1/8" deep
