Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system and it's larger Mercury. NASA would classify Ganymede as a planet if it ever breaks free of Jupiter’s gravitational pull.

^ as much fun as that sounds, i think it would throw off the whole balance of our solar system :icon14: who knows what it would do to Earth's orbital distance and speed... and then how would that change in orbital location affect the Earth's atmosphere, climate, etc? :brainasplode:

maybe the weather would be nicer over all? and then maybe wed all die lol it wouldve been cooler if the movie 2012 had shown a Z or other sports car outrunning the destruction

:icon18: maybe that's the premise for F&F6?... lol
Well, Jupiter has 50 moons and 14 provisional moons but Ganymede is the largest moon in the entire solar system. It also is the moon scientists speculate is the most likely to be harboring an alien form of live beneath its 800km-thick, icy surface layer due to its metal core and rocky mantle, much like the earth's core and mantle. They also detected a layer of oxygen in its atmosphere back in 1996 but it is too thin to support any form of life. |
