Why Would A Four Runner Want to Race Me?

I left a local pizza joint last night, and on the way home some douchebag in a Four Runner wanted to race...not once..not twice...but three times. The first time he pulled up to me and matched my speed, then proceeded to floor and take off. My roommate and I were trying to figure out what the f@#ck this dude was doing. It didn't occur until he slowed down to let me catch up and him jerking his 4R forward with throttle bleeps, did I realize he wanted to race. I never bothered because it was ridiculous, and my roommate & I were making fun of this guy because his girlfriend was in the passenger seat. What kind of douchebag does this? On top of that, what kind of women dates a guy a like this?

wow...just wow :shakes head:

What a tool.

At least you don't have retarded lifted diesel trucks (being from Arkansas like I am, you probably know exactly how retarded it is to have a lifted diesel truck - I'm pretty sure nobody in Arkansas can afford a diesel truck unless they are towing a 5th wheel trailer) trying to race you all the time. 400 WHP, 700 lb-ft isn't impressive on a 6000 lb truck.... sorry, morons.

Waiz 07-15-2010 02:44 PM

What a douche.

Jeffblue 07-15-2010 02:47 PM

some douche in a g37 coupe tried to race me twice the other night on a road that is in a school zone. He was behind me at the light and rode my *** when it turned green, so i gassed it a bit to get away and he starts trying to race me. I think he was just pissed that his wife made him get the G because he needed back seats for the kids and room for the 100 handbags she buys. not bashing the G, my parents have them, great cars, but anyone street racing is a DBAG

Typical.

The 370Z seems to bring out the douchebag in everybody. People drive like asshats and try to race us even though my wife is driving 90% of the time. It's worse than when I'm rolling around in the Evo; I drive it around town pretty much how my wife does the Z - like a granny. lol. Saving gas and avoiding cops FTW.

Chriz 07-15-2010 07:02 PM

Who knows, maybe he had a 2jz under the hood :stirthepot:

Considering a tuner and exhaust puts you in the 13 second range, I think its quite impressive... They have diesels with a drop in Garrett and a tune running 11s and 12s. Not bad for a 6000lb truck.

Not sure where you heard or read that, but it takes a LOT more than just a programmer and exhaust to get a truck into the 13 second bracket. They start out running anywhere from low 18's to high 16's. Many more supporting mods are necessary to get a truck to run fast. $20k+ on top of an already $40-50k truck to reach the 12-11 second range reliably.

My point wasn't that diesel trucks are slow - if you lived here after having lived in Texas, Arkansas, or any other actual rural, farm-based area, you'd know how retarded diesel guys here are. Who lifts a diesel truck anyway? I think it's a lot more impressive to be able to tow ungodly heavy trailers than to run the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds, with a 14 inch lift and mud tires on. :ugh2: It's just dumb, kind of like the dipshits from Arkansas that try to race you in their tricked out Chevy 1500 or whatever.

What the hell is wrong with having a lifted diesel truck? I personally know more than one lifted diesel truck that would give our Zs a run for their money in a straight line. And I don't think I would of had much issue getting my diesel truck to match the times a Z pulls stock in a straight line.

Lifting a vehicle specifically designed for towing is retarded. It would be like lifting a semi truck. Would that make any sense whatsoever? :ugh2:

More like $1200. Look it up, there are plenty of 6.0 Powerstroke diesels running in the 13s with ONLY an exhaust and tune. If you want to factor in the cost of making the truck reliable with that power. Boost the cost up another $1200 for head studs, that the cost of the studs + labor. When you're all said and done, $2400 you can have a 6.0 Powerstroke running the same time as a Z. Personally I think thats pretty impressive for a 7,000Lbs. truck

You can also drop an LS1 in a Geo Metro for about that much money and have it run 12's. Does that mean it makes any sense?

A fast diesel truck is an oxymoron. They should be used for towing because that is what they are designed to do, and that's all they can do well. Adding more torque/power to be able to tow more is awesome. Doing the same to run faster in the quarter mile is moronic. Have you ever seen a diesel truck lose control at the strip? It's not pretty. And it happens a lot more often than you'd care to think. Why? Because they're not designed to go fast. End of story.

this^^^ why do all of WarmAndSCSI's post seem like he's fallen off the rocker? it goes back to the "it's your car, do what you want with it" thing.

besides, unless you are going 6 seconds or less in the quarter, straight lines are for p*ssy's.

Then you're agreeing that it's dumb to put any money into a TOWING VEHICLE to make it run a mediocre 13-11 second quarter mile?

I'm confused as to what your point is. I despise drag racing anyway. Grew out of that years ago when I found how ridiculous the thrills to $$$ spent on broken parts ratio is.

XwChriswX 07-16-2010 01:16 PM

Here its pretty much ANY truck you see is lifted with the big mud tires, yet you never see them dirty...

And I don't just mean 1 or two, I mean every other truck you see is just like that. And they never do with them what you would think... they don't go get them dirty or haul anything.. It's retarded. (Not lifting trucks, lifting trucks putting them on mud tires, then rollin on the highway to pick up groceries) I mean really...? :ugh:

I like a smartly done lifted truck as much as the next guy, but here they just take it out of control. :shakes head:

YES!

Thank God, somebody who actually knows what I'm talking about.

I love diesel trucks. I think they're cool. I think off-road vehicles are the **** as well. I own neither, but I give props where props are due.

I was simply complaining about the diesel idiots here who think having one of SEVERAL THOUSAND "14 second" lifted diesel trucks up here makes them special at all. It's a plague in Utah. And it's dangerous because such a vehicle is not safe in ANY aspect. You compromise the handling characteristics of an already poor handling vehicle, and then you add 3x more power to it without upgrading the brakes or anything. How is that safe for anybody!?

It's not, it's retarded. It's retarded to have to have a special hitch that lowers the hitch ball just to be able to tow your 2000 lb trailer around with a truck that's designed to tow 4x that. I see it here ALL THE TIME and it's just sickening.

I'm done with this discussion - unless you live here or somewhere else where this lifted diesel truck craze is running rampant, you honestly don't know how annoying these guys are. They're grade A douchebags. I don't have anything against the trucks, it's more that there are literally THOUSANDS of them here; and they all drive like dipshits.

fullmonty 07-16-2010 01:58 PM

I don't know about your area but the guys with the lifted trucks in my area are some of the nicest people you wana meet. Most likely because their parents farm and were brought up with some values. But thats another story. I get along with them just fine but then again its proably because I ran off and bought this son of a bitch. And thus the reason I'm a truck fanboy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/rumman/123.jpg
