Any Filipinos on the forum?

I'll admit I'm white washed, cant speak a full sentence of it, but I do understand most of it. Sure wished I learned it well though....but besides my parents, I had no one else to speak it with and be fluent.

I'm the same way. I can understand about 90% of Tagalog, but when it comes to speaking it I have a really hard time. I learned when I was 7yrs old when I stayed in the Phillippines for a month. I came home and spoke it fluently. But my grandparents on my moms side only spoke English at home because they wanted all the kids to learn English faster.

I know if I really put in the effort I could learn again, but it's hard when I don't really have anyone to practice with on a daily basis. Hopefully when I go back to the Phillippines next year I can relearn again.
