Enough of that. If I offended anyone, I apologize.

Are their any 370z owners on the forum in the Philippines? It's a relatively expensive car there after all the import fees, so I would suspect it's pretty rare. Probably double the sticker price of the US.

Yeah there are one or two. You know how it is over there though... you have teh money or you don't.

Stop saying lame. It's lame.

For one, I’m not being “defensive”, you're the one getting all bent out of shape and assuming I was speaking of "you" personally. When I say "flaunting" your Filipino pride, etc I'm not referring to you personally (I don’t know you) I’m referring to anybody who desires to claim a certain ethnicity without knowledge of their heritage, language, etc. I haven’t nor am I I currently speaking of anyone personally on this forum, if the shoe fits wear it. Getting all defensive just goes to show what I’ve said probably rings true. But as I’ve previous stated, who you are as an individual is influenced mostly by where you’ve spent most of your life. I would venture to say that most of you would be more accurately described as: American of Filipino (Asian) decent, just as many “white” folks like my self would be more accurately described as American of Irish / German (European) decent.

If you must know, I was born and lived in the Phillippines. I amire your talent for judging people using only a few post out of context and Wikipedia entries.

Seriously, speaking for the majority, no one here cares what you have to say. If you want to go on a rant on racial definitions, feel free to start your own thread. There is really no need for you to keep posting here. :gtfo2:

Yes, one can chose to be “proud” of whatever he /she wants but choosing to represent a nation you know al most nothing is beyond lame. I say if you’re so proud to be “Filipino” learn the national language, culture and actually live there for a few years at the very least. If you feel the same way after that then by all means flaunt your “Filipino Pride”! Otherwise you just look kinda silly.

I'm what they would call a "twinkie". Made in the Philippines but raised in the USA for about 90% of my life. My parents always cooked Filipino food and made friends with other Filipino families. Of course I would call them "Tito" and "Tita" even though they weren't really.

It's been decades since I could actually speak tagalog but my parents still talk (and yell) at me in tagalog but I always talk back in English, ha!

I've gone back to the Philppines a few times for vacations - I usually pick up some barrelmen and balisong knives as souvenirs.

I still consider myself Filipino, a twinkie but still Filipino. Filipino-American?

For one, I wasn’t asking if "you" were born / lived in the Philippines for a couple weeks, etc. Second, if you think I'm "Judging" people and using "Wikipedia entries" as a base for my knowledge you're dumber than I originally thought, congratulations! I've probably spent more time in the Philippines and know more about the culture than you and I'm a white guy, you mad?. Oh and who is going on a "rant" about racial definitions? Have you lost your mind or what?

And did I say it’s impossible for a 370z to be imported to the Philippines? No, there you go assuming things again. The bottom line is that based on your responses you're extremely insecure with your identity. And if anyone needs to "GTFO" it's you seeing you're the ONLY one getting his panties in a bunch.

I went to one in DC a few years ago. My sister lived in Baltimore before she moved to NC. There is a pretty large group of Filipino's on Long Island and Queens. Some really good Filipino restaurants too including a Jolly Bee. I'm not sure about festivals, but we do have Filipino community parties about twice a year.

My dad cooks lechon in the backyard. Freaks people out the first time they see it, but parties wouldn't be complete without it.

Wow I bet that member is probably one of about a hand full at best. I hope they live outside of the major cities... The traffic in Manila for example is flat out horrendous. The last time I was in the Philippines I didn't see too many sport cars like the 370z.

last time i was there was 2005, somewhere downtown I saw 3 evo's: iirc it was a 4, 5, and a 6. I was drooling only because they're not available in the US.

Almost $80k including taxes. A GTR is abot $150k including taxes. You'll have more luck seeing an F430 on the street instead of a Z or GTR.

Grey import from a dealer. Or in some cases, special order from Nissan. Special order from Nissan means a limited factory warranty.

There's quite a few actually, the owners just don't take them out very often. Because of the high taxes, Z owners don't take them out very often. It's usually a second car for them, the daily is either an Evo or 3-series or something similar.

You'll find older Skylines in Cebu and Davao because the taxes aren't as high. You'll see more R34's in Cebu than Manila.

BTW, I'm not getting involved in this, but y'all need to chill :pics:

I'm the same way. I can understand about 90% of Tagalog, but when it comes to speaking it I have a really hard time. I learned when I was 7yrs old when I stayed in the Phillippines for a month. I came home and spoke it fluently. But my grandparents on my moms side only spoke English at home because they wanted all the kids to learn English faster.

I know if I really put in the effort I could learn again, but it's hard when I don't really have anyone to practice with on a daily basis. Hopefully when I go back to the Phillippines next year I can relearn again.

My 1st cousins are kind of the same way. 2 are half norweigian, 2 are half italian, 1's half irish and 2 others are half Iranian (although they refer to themselves as Persian). I was born in the Phillippines, but you know how it is with most of us, a lot of Spanish blood/heritage.

WOW!! I learned something today! :) I didn't know there was a Filipino connection with the 370z. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Texas when I was 15. That was 18 years ago. And in 2 1/2 weeks I will be going to the P.I. for some R&R. I can't wait! I'm happy to see that the P.I. is well represented in this forum. Mabuhay!!
