Another XBox 360 Bites the Dust....
 

......OK, I'm using the "3 Rings of Death" as an excuse to replace my oldest XBox 360 (I think this one was close to 3 yrs old) with the new one -- and MAYBE I'll have the old one repaired, but when you start to get a little older (older = guys who drive "cute" Z roadsters) -- you sometimes just splurge with some of that extra disposable income.....:icon17: Besides, I'm a hopeless Forza Motorsport III addict, so gotta do the "tech refresh" thing for the living room unit...

Anyone already got the new 250GB XB360? Mine is supposed to arrive on Friday. Would be interested to hear your experiences....

got mine, love it. Using my intercooler from my old Xbox to keep this one extra cool, this one will NOT RROD on my ass.

I'm on #3 right now. These things drop like flies. I've got one friend on #2 and another on #4. If the new one is significantly quieter and more reliable I may have to pick one up.

you wont be able to hear the thing running over the sound of your speakers man, its more quiet than my PS3, it does feel pretty hot though after a few hours of playing, which is why I'm using my intercooler on it, its pretty badass, you'll like it.

i'm still on my original one. its still chugging along.

Forza will eventually make me broke. Every time a new Forza comes out I buy a new car.


I'm still rocking the Elite I bought last year. No RROD for my old launch 360, but it was getting to the point where some games would freeze for no reason. Anyone know if the new 360 has a dedicated optical audio port? Pissed me off to no end when I realized I had to buy an adapter to use HDMI and optical on my Elite

Just found out today, that there is a "three red light" fix kit avail on E-Bay for $2.75 -- anyone ever screw with these? Almost worth the ~$5 to see if it will fixe the problem before I pay Microsoft a LOT more or just scrap the old XB360.

New one should be here by Friday!

haha, yeah, on these, when the system feels its getting too hot, it shuts itself down as a precaution, so if you're playing for 8+ hours, i'd suggest saving quite a bit:tup:

To not have to worry about it at all, I took the intercooler off the back of my orignal 360 and rested it on the top vent of the new one, its working like a champ, before, the top of it was pretty hot after a few hours, now it stays cool to the touch, wooyeah!

kinda negates the whole "it's soooo much quieter thing" tho doesn't it? lol

true, but I only put it on when I'm playing over 5+ hours, as in the other day when I broke out Mass Effect 2, damn game is effin addicting.

yea i'm waiting for gamestop to do another "buy 2 get one free" on used games so i can pick up 1 and 2 and maybe bioshock or something. i picked up fallout 3 when i got my 360 last week. haven't even put it in yet, gonna wait to finish FF13... i'm almost there..........

Oh man, I didnt put Fallout down until I beat it, all side missions and main story took me about 10 hours, which I proudly completed in one session:icon17:

I havent played another FF since VII, to me, all before and after are dead to me, i'm obsessed with that game.

FF X and XII were fantastic. XIII not so much, i really do feel like i'm grinding out the game instead of enjoying but i'm so far into it, i feel like i have to complete it.

is it real time or turn based? have you tried Oblivion yet?

I've never let "I'm almost done" keep me from not completing a game. I abandoned Mass Effect about a year and a half ago, picked it back up right before I picked up ME II and finished it -- I only had only about an hour left.

Fallout 3 is awesome --- Oblivion I didn't get into so much ... something didn't click with me with the combat mechanics
