If not, an older Mazdaspeed Protege is another great option. Mine's an 03 with all the goodies. Would cost about $6K now for an unmolested stock one, and about $3K if you want some better performance out of it. I run about 10-12psi now and it's a little faster than a base 350 on the highway. Still gets over 30 MPG, 4 doors with TONS of cargo room for that sized car and is an absolute BLAST to drive. Not as fast as my 370 (especially off the line) but feels much more connected to the road, great feedback and steering feel. Not too bad looking either (check out my photo album) although starting to show it's aged design when parked next to the Z. If you're in the DFW area there's also a pretty big group of enthusiast on DFWMazdas.com that can help you out with a lot performance questions. Last edited by TXSpeedDemon; 06-30-2010 at 08:54 PM. |

I always have a "huptie", my DD is a 92 Ford Ranger which is great for the house.

I'd just let the Z rack up the miles. What's the point otherwise? I bought my car to drive, not to sit...
Anyhow, I'd recommend an old compact pickup - versatility is unparalleled. Kevin |

I've had my Z just over 10 months now and I rolled 17K this morning. Still planning on driving to Nashville this month too!

I'm almost at 19K and I've had my car 11 months as of today. I'd prefer to have an inexpensive AWD vehicle as my DD and to be able to take it to the mountains in the winter. I'm not really finding any affordable options.

Plus for me is the hassle of backing up the old lady SUV to get my car out and viceversa. That is why a have a small pick up.

yea if you can find an old hardbody nissan or 'yota, the things will run forever. find one for $1-2k and just drive it till the wheels fall off then repeat.

The need to drive around a crappy car while my Z sits in my garage is something I hope I'm never forced to deal with.
