Ok... and? Do you want the Captain Obvious award or something? ATT and Apple signed a pretty straight forward 5 year contract that started in 07. Why anyone thinks this contract will allow someone else in the US to get the iPhone before it ends is beyond me.

On a side note, the release date is effing FAIL. Parents were going to get me a new phone for my bday, which is this week. Looks like it's Android for me -.-

My iPhone 3G (non-S) is practically retarded as of late. It's been synced, erased and resynced, updated, cleared (sans contacts and texts) and it's still dumb. Even just changing songs hangs for a couple seconds most of the time. Kind of forcing me towards upgrading to a v4 down the line :shakes head:

I had an Iphone or actually five... I love them but I hate em I dropped it 2 feet and broke the screen. I did mushrooms and had Iphone races down a hill with my friend for 45 minutes and surely the back plate was scratched to **** but everything was still fine. Pics

I've only had the one and I'm not too gentle with it. It's been dropped and even knocked out of my hand before (during St Patrick's Day) and it's pretty okay physically. Some cracks in the back plastic, scratches, weird things with my screen from being dropped...

Your phone isn't the only one being retarded. I don't know why, but for some reason my iPhone 1G always gets retarded if I don't update the OS. I brought it up to my friend that works at the Apple store, and he acted really weird when answering, like Apple was doing something to make people upgrade...

unfortunately I could see that happening, if even indirectly.

They're writing all this new software for the 3GS, and expecting it to run fine on a v1 or 3G and it just doesn't have the POWA! It's like when Vista came out and it was BADDDDDD because dual core wasn't the standard and people were still selling computers with only 1GB RAM. Then they learned the hard way what was truly necessary and things were a little less scary.

Actually, for me the Retina display – 960×640 at 3.5″ for 326dpi (*fap fap*). 800:1 contrast ratio and IPS for wide-angle viewing = MAJOR MOTHAFUGGIN WIN...

LIGHT YEARS ahead of any other mobile display out there.....

True, I wonder if that glass they're using is scratch resistant. They're already advertising "cases" on their site (of course)

Well in the keynote video..it said the glass was 30 times more hard than a plastic display...and that it has the same characteristics as sapphire (which i believe is the same composition used in really high end watches).

If its true, then this glass is going to be pretty damn scratch resistant. Sapphire has a hardness of 9, so very few things will be able to scratch it.

Apparently its new glass developed just for this phone...don't know if thats true, but thats why they said.

I have a 3GS and will be upgrading to the 4. I have never had a screen protector on my phone and it still doesn have a scratch on it.

I am the target demographic for screen protectors. I very often subconsciously place my iPod/iPhone in a tight pocket with my car keys. I've done this for so long and seen the ghastly results, that when I bought an iPhone, I made the conscious decision to always buy the cheap plastic scuff absorbers. It works for me.

I don't keep keys in my pocket (thanks to the Z) but it is in my pocket or backpack with change and other stuff and I've dropped it a few times and it's been really durable. I do have a Casecrown on the back though.

FYI, I am not eligible for an upgrade until 2011 so I was curious what kind of deal I would get. So I called the local AT&T store and if you are not due for an upgrade this year it will be an extra $100 to upgrade. So the 16gb model will be $299 and the 32gb will be $399. I think I can still get $200+ for my 3GS so that's what I'll be doing.

Couldn't fine one on youtube yet.

I have the 3gs too. The screen is glass so it's very difficult to scratch it. I think I will be getting the 4 too time for a new toy.

I had NO idea this thing has been sitting in my drawer with another broken (in pieces) 3g and a 2g. My friend sold his 3g in perfect condition for $100 cause the 3gs came out so I thought it was almost worthless.

You can still get pretty good money for even the 2G. Just go to craigslist and type iphone in.

I checked att's website and they will charge me $200 to upgrade to the 3gs. So I'm assuming they want $200 more to upgrade to the iphone 4. I sold my iphone 3g on ebay for about $300, If the 3gs can be jailbroken I'm sure there are lots of people that will buy it.

Well I am very disappointed that we did not get it but you know what. I like my new Devour I bought yesterday. It is a bit more complex than the iphone and not as nice to integrate with my macs stuff like calendar and all but still nice. Maybe next year. I will get it when it comes out. One reason it is not coming out is because of the ipad contract with att had a hidden font that renewed the iphone contract for another year. But att people are still going to be pi$$ed because of the new pricing and contracts for the iphone.

I'm pretty sure that only applies to new customers. Upgrades will most likely carry over existing Unlimited data plans.

Tough call because technically you sign a new contract when you buy a new iPhone so they could auto enforce the new data plans with iPhone 4.

I checked my usage over the past 6 months and I think the most its been is almost 300MB and I'm a pretty heavy data user. The 2GB is $5 less so I doubt I'll use that much for now while FaceTime is just WiFi capable.
