Cops guess on speeding fines

this is going to suck for z drivers... our car looks like it's speeding whilst stationary...

In most states, cops are trained in "visual estimation" and use radars as confirmation. Allof the states I've lived in allow speeding tickets to be issued with "visual estimation" as the only "proof".

Makes me feel slightly less "safe" with my V1 at my side.

It's not really guessing when you're trained in the procedure. It essentially comes down to timing a cars travel time across a known distance and calculating the speed from that.

Can't wait to get pulled over because I looked like I was driving fast.

You are going to waste money with a Lawyer, but that issue don't hold water in court.

Damn u Bryan .. always having to clear things up! Hey, I might have to take you up on that Miami / USF ticket .. the only problem is I will probably be the only USF fan in your seating area .. which would suck around a bunch of drunken Miami Cane's fans ... lol

I think this whole thing is kinda ridiculous. Cops are incompetent to use a radar, but competent to guess speed visually?

Wasting money on lawyers is a bad idea, since it probably won't get you anywhere. But what happens when a lawyer is victim of this themselves? I am sure they will raise a huge stink.

It happened to me in Florida. On a residential street, near where I live, in a 35 MPH zone.

The cop pulled me over and said I was speeding. I wasn't. I know they have speed traps there.

I argued the cop down by insisting I knew they were there and was not speeding. I asked to see the radar and he said he visually estimated my speed and was going to let me go with a warning.

I was driving a small Nissan pickup. In a Z, I wouldn't have had a prayer.
