Chatbox
One of the things I've always liked about some of the other forums I frequent is the inclusion of a chatbox to just BS in. I feel that it lets you get to know people better and does a bit of community building. Well I've recently found a site that will add a chatbox to any website. It basically creates a chatroom specific to any URL and anyone connecting to the same URL with gabbly.com/ in front of it will enter the same chatroom. For example for the mainpage of the370z.com it would be:
Gabbly This will overlay the chatroom on top of whatever page you're visiting. You can resize it, move it, and even turn it transparent. You can register your user name with Gabbly so that nobody else can use it. And it won't use any of the370z's bandwidth, just Gabbly's. It does have an ad in the upper right corner that you can't get rid of, but that's not a big deal. I've anchored it to the bottom of my page so it doesn't block anything. Here's what it looks like: If you just update your bookmark to be http: //gabbly.com/www.the370z.com/ (without the space after http) then it'll load gabbly with the page everytime. So what do you guys think? I'll be in chat and hope to see some of the community in there as well! |
