My day at work....
ok... so I am at work feeling good about my productive day and getting ready to go home. I see a customer out in the lobby that had just walked in 5 minutes till closing. So I go out of my way to assist this lady. This is our conversation.
Me: Hello mayam, My name is Jae Lee how may I help you? Lady: I want someone that speaks english. Me: **Confused** I'm sorry??? Did you need some help mayam? Lady: **Looks directly at me** I want someone that speaks english. Me: **MOAR Cornfoosed** umm... do you not understand what i am saying? Lady: No. Me: **Now im offended** Is there something wrong mayam? **Still polite** Lady: No theres nothing wrong, I just don't understand what you are saying. I want someone that speaks ENGLISH GOD DAMMIT. Me: **Pissed** Ok, Let me get Mariana Hernandez our other personal banker to assist you. Lady: Thank you. ^^ Seriously? what the hell... this just doesnt make any sense. English is my primary language, and korean being my second. Came over to the states when I was only 2 years old. So, I pretty much grew up here all my life. This just ruined my day. =( Anyone ever expereince some total BS at work? |
This lady called up the station saying that I'm really dorky and not "good-looking." She was passionate that I should be taken off the air! I don't care what I look like. I just want people to have some fun with the weather! Sorry about your "anti-Asian" comment from that lady. You should hear what a weatherman has to hear every single day. Uffff! |
^^ dude thats awesome! you're on tV!

You live in Texas. This really shouldn't be all that shocking. Still...I can see how it would be disheartening nonetheless.
I would have just said something like. "Oh...I'm GREAT at English! In fact, I received my master's degree in English at Harvard back in 2005. How can I help you?:tup::tup:" Would have been nice to see the expression on her face. :icon17: |
Weatherman nice job on the forecast but does it suck up North or what? Wind chill below zero and I'm done.
|
Arizona is waiting for you then, they have some good job benefits! :roflpuke2:

Obviously the lady knew he could speak English as she understood what he told her. She didn't want to be helped by an Asian.
|
I know my english is fine... I know that lady was just being a racist *****
People here in DFW area is actually pretty chill though. |
hahah wow you are a very respectable figure jae. If that was me, my temper would have forced me to do very bad things.....i probably would have gotten fired from my job. keep up the good work dude.
|
Wow, that's some racist crap there. And she was ok that you referred her to a Hispanic? Weird lady.
|
This happened to my friend in college when we were working at the local best buy. He was korean and it was around the time when that asian kid at virgina tech shot some people or something. Either way, some guy came in and my friend offered to help this person and the racist guy said he wanted someone "from this country" to help him. My friend, being the wise *** he is politely told him we didn't have any Native American employees so he'd have to settle for an immigrant. :bowrofl:
