Would you fall through and once you get to the middle be launched up to the other side? Or would gravity keep you stuck in the middle of the earth?

If you dug a hole from where you are to the other side of the earth
Would you fall through and once you get to the middle be launched up to the other side? Or would gravity keep you stuck in the middle of the earth? (This is of course not taking into consideration the heat would burn you to death)

Actually, if you think about it in a logical sense... If you fell in the hole you would travel to the center at 9.8 m/s until you reached the center where you would eclipse the absolute zero threshold and continue to fall at a slowing rate to the other side until gravity took affect yet again and pulled you back in the opposite direction. This would happen just a bungie cord and eventually would bring you back to the absolute zero threshold where you would stay. Or atleast till you climbed out.

it would take 150 thousand HP to dig to the center of the earth with a 25000 pound drill and it once in the center it would take an extra 300 thousand HP to make it through the center and out the other side... JK idk but thats a good question

So basically with the effect described above,
Once you hit the center this whole effect would be on-going and if the heat did not kill you then most likely, you wold keep doing this until starvation occurred (same effect as having annoying sex or one night stand if you are a drunk.) or you were able to throw yourself off this loop hole per-say and you'd still die from impact, so regardless "Dont try it at home."

Actually despite the fact that we use a constant, gravity is not constant, and would increase slightly as you approach the core. And even if you could survive 8000 degrees you would be crushed by the billions of pounds of hydraulic pressure from the liquid magma followed by liquid metal, until finally you smash head first into the solid inner core. It wouldn't be pretty.

With my luck, I would have missed the left turn at Albuquerque.

Since it's gravitational force that causes the planet to come together as it is, my theory would be the center of the Earth is also the center of gravity. So you would get to the center and immediately the gravity would start pulling you back to where you came. Much like a swinging pendulum, this would happen back and forth a couple times until you stopped right in the middle.

Good story about how mankind uses deep tunnels/subways as a means of traveling great distances by using the gravity/slingshot/pendulum theory.
