That's why you stick to a leather strap. Just find a watch you like that has lugs that will nicely accept a leather strap, then go buy a nice one from Hirsch or Di-Modell and you've got yourself a great piece.

UPS just swung by and delivered another diver watch I ordered. Orient Mako. I got it on sale for 50% off and wanted to see what all the fuss was about since so many people rave about them. Let's just say it's worth every penny and then some.

$95 shipped... lol. From Orientwatchusa.com. They were having a 49% off sale with the code Surprise49. It expires sometime today so not sure if it's still on.

Edit: Looks like they're doing a 30% sale right now with code Today30, so a Mako would be $133 shipped, which still is a good price. You won't find this quality in a mechanical watch under $200.

Pics don't do it justice, it's a really cool blue!

The orange and yellow versions are very popular.

A few hours ago I ordered a black one while they were still doing the 49% sale.

It's actually pretty nice. I'll just give it to my mom this weekend since obviously I can't wear it.

Very interested to see what I get with this next watch. Hopefully it's something I can use!
