love the color as well. I don't know why we don't see more deeper reds and candy reds anymore..................... harder color to do right I guess.

my guess is $$$. Plus a lot of those colors were originally done with laquer based paints, not the environmentally friendlier paints the manufacturers have to use nowadays. maybe it's just too hard of a color to make?

I think you're on the right track. I've seen some of the guys like Chip Foose and others on the car shows on HD Theater do the candy reds, and it's an involved and layered process .................... money and the environmentally friendly paints required for mass production don't lend themselves well to the special finishes.
