So, I went to men's warehouse to pick out some new shirts. I asked for french cuff, and they only had a couple colors. When I asked why, the salesman said they just don't get many orders for french cuff anymore, so they don't stock it. I was floored.

Most of the big department stores will carry french cuff options. I have a few but honestly I prefer a traditional barrel cuff these days. It's just a lot more convenient and the shirt is much more versatile. French cuffs without a tie are just... tacky.

My girl prefers police and leather cuffs :p

Well sure, I wouldn't wear a french cuff without a tie. But french cuffs are, in my opinion, the most distinguished option. While I may not choose to wear one every day, I couldn't even buy one at that store due to their lack of availability.

PS, I bought these collar stays from qstays.com

$40 for them + personal engraving and shipping.

Do you wear the french cuff shirts with suits?

Sometimes with, most of the time without. But always with a tie.

Ok, that's good, I don't like them unless they are with a suit or a tie.

I've never seen anyone use them without (at least) a tie. I'd correct that person with the quickness.

Those collar stays are nice. The plastic ones warp too easily. Often times at work I find myself having to build some temporary collar stays using either paper clips or a business card. :D

Really decent for the price. Only $20 is you don't want them engraved.

Legal size paper clips work in a pinch :tiphat:

Never tried that :icon17:

Any of you ever see long point collars used at work? Someone was wearing one a few weeks ago and totally looked out of place. Too dramatic for business imho.

m4a1mustang 09-19-2010 01:44 PM

No, I haven't seen long point collars in a long time.
