Why popo keep popping my hood in socal?

I thought this was pretty funny. Why do Officers always ask to pop my hood in SoCal? - Police Forums & Law Enforcement Forums @ Officer.com

I will say the OP is not the best at arguing his point but I won't say he's wrong. It seems to me that everyone on the site just wants to bash him for being a "ricer" even though he owns a stock vehicle that also happens to be one of the best sports cars on the market.

Seems to be a bunch of Impala loving police officers wanting to bash on a guy with an import to me.

i wouldnt go so far as to call an Evo a "Sports" car per se, more of a "performance sedan"

Call it what you will but it destroys "sports cars" on the track. The more I read the thread the more I understand the attitude of these cops. One cop tells him to keep his modified car on the track only after he has repeatedly stated it is stock. One assumes he is under 20 years old becuase he drives a "ricer." Another actually mocks his vehicle becuase it has a big wing.

Bottom Line: A very small percentage of officers do the job because they want to help citizens by upholding the law. Most are those who want a decent paying job requiring minimal post high school education. As such most are a**holes with a chip on their shoulder.

A ton of people are going to hate on me for saying that but it's what I believe to be true. Let the flaming begin.

Driving anything loud will get you pulled over.
Good thing the z stock is real quiet.
Almost like a mouse compared to others.

Yeah, this guy isn't the best at arguing his position and that makes him look like sort of a tool -- but he does make a few good points.

I think I would be pissed if I was pulled over because my car looked a certain profile not because it had gaudy things hanging off it or it had things that were dangerous on it but simply because it was essentially an import. The picture of the dudes Evo makes it look really conservative as far as they go, too.

Part of the reason you drive a car like that is because you like the look, anyway. It is bold and stands out and a lot of people like that -- you shouldn't be punished for doing that, especially if your car is stock.

Yeah my NISMO would get stopped all the time in Cali. I blew by a bike cop with his radar gun out yesterday going ~78 in a 65. He didn't even flinch. I usually give them a small wave as I pass and of course slow down or change lanes as per the new law.

Quote:
In April, Los Angeles police took down the license plate numbers of Evo owners who had merely gathered to swap stories and share the experiences they had in owning similar vehicles. The police then mailed each participant an accusatory letter, even though no law had been broken and no resident had been disturbed by the friendly meeting.

"These vehicles were either gathering in preparation to race, or were actually involved in street racing." Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton wrote. "...We are prepared to prosecute all parties to the full extent of the law."

Yeah the guy must have been doing this just for fun, but he does make a good point is it his fault that he drives a stock evo responsibly but he still gets pulled over?

No, he speeds, and has tickets from doing so. Officer sees the car, runs the plate, sees a record, then pulls him over.

I am totally and completely against an officer looking for any reason to pull someone over just because they have had tickets and their car has a wing. No one should have to schedule every day with an extra hour cushion because they had some tickets and bought a car with a spoiler.

I'm sorry but cops do this all the time in cali, i myself drive an evo. I have no record whatsoever and i never ever street race, I always take it to the track. But i got pulled over already here in norcal, driving my in laws back to SF i was going 70 on a 65 on cruise control I do have a catback but it's so quiet under cruise control. I don't have problem with authority i'm in the military and i'm always to defend cops, but that **** is such a hassle when you get pulled over just minding your business with in laws in the back asking me what did i do.
