Open wide for Ford, GM & Chrysler, 'cause here they come!

$16.4m is a drop in the hat for Toy Yoda.

It's a record as the highest fine ever issued. Toyota was late in reporting. I somehow don't think this is anywhere near the equivilent of what Chevy did with the side saddle gas tanks or Ford with the exploding pinto.

heh, the US govt. who practically owns GM after investing heavily in the automaker to save it from certain bankruptcy, is levying record fines against Toyota.

I am not asserting that the govt is doing anything unethical, because I don't know. (But I would not doubt it.)

I am just saying you don't have to look far for the appearance of a conflict of interest.

US Gov fines Toyota for $16M is like the NBA fines Kobe Bryant, LeBron, or Shaq $3000 for making unruly comments about the officials.

The players just write a check for another $3000 and donate to their favorite charity.

:iagree:

You have the President of the US that is backed by the UAW, and own GM...lol.

It's a joke. Oh well Toyota will get through it.

$16 mill, big deal.

I still say 99.99% of these 'incidents' are complete BS just like the housewife in NY whose 'black box' showed she was mashing the accelerator pedal and not the brake pedal. Most people are stupid.

kenchan 04-07-2010 12:29 PM

toyota broke the law by selling crap like yaris which has no toyota quality.

That one where the cop saw the guys tires burning up from putting the brakes on and the cop having to get in front of him to stop him must be that .01%. And we dont know what that blkack box actually says as Toyota wont let anyone but them look at it. Why cuz it would prove they can see whats wrong and did nothing till peopole got hurt or killed. But this is what all car companies do, they say no till they are proven wrong.

efuseakay 04-07-2010 01:22 PM

That guy. He's only out for $. The dude is several hundred thousand in debt. The national news showed the rotors and pads. No way he was standing on the brakes like he claimed.

There are people who will now, never even consider buying a Toyota!

Will insurance companies even cover the Toyota models that have issues?

You are joking right?
Insurance companies will insure anything, but might raise the rates on those vehicles for a short time period which I even doubt. People are still buying Toyota's, why?, because they are smart enough to understand BS from the media and real issues.
