Verizon getting iPhone?
I heard on the news today that Apple was talking to Verizon again. Can anyone confirm that this is the real deal this time? I heard that Verizon will possibly get a new version of the iPhone.

If so this is great news, I love my iphone, but im sick of AT&T
|
IIRC, AT&T did not get a renewed contract with Apple. so that would mean the Iphone is in the open market now, not locked with a certain provider.
this is only if what I've read is true. |
last month Apple signed with AT&T again because they could not work out a deal with verizon. apple wanted to much power over the service
|
It will be interesting to see this unravel.
Considering Verizon did not want it in the first place because Apple want full exclusive rights and control over Apps/media/etc. Though I think in the past few years Verizon has realized that is not the way phones are going. |
Even if it does go to Verizon, us iPhone users sick of ATT will have to buy a new iphone anyways when switching to Verizon since it uses CDMA :(

Does T-Mobile has iPhone too? I'm fine with AT&T even that I don't have an iPhone but was thinking about getting one soon.
What problems are you guys having with AT&T? I hate Verizon btw! Very Poor Customer Service and more expensive than AT&T. |

The issue with AT&T currently is slow network transfer speeds, low call quality, anything else that has to do with data transfer. This is not a huge issue in smaller cities, but in the larger cities where the iPhone user count is off the charts and data usage is still growing it limits what you can do. |
Basically, iPhone traffic has crippled AT&T's 3G networks in large cities. In smaller cities/twosn, AT&T's 3G coverage is abysmal to begin with. I've experience poor call quality, dropped calls, inability to connect calls, and recieved texts and other data updates hours after they were sent.

Yep, my iPhone gets signal pretty much anywhere in Phoenix...
Anywhere ACCEPT MY APARTMENT COMPLEX!!! 5 bars at the streetlight, as soon as I pull in my complex, 1 bar... searching... No Service... It will blip signal at times, but as a standard, 1 conversation will drop at least 4 calls, and texts take up to an hour or two to show up... :shakes head: I went to the ATT store to see what the problem was, and I was directed to an ATT App called: "ATT Mark The Spot" Its a free ATT app that you can use to send ATT a message saying what the problem is you have, and how frequently it happens. You'll then get a text message reply saying they recieved it. The idea being when they get enough responses in a certain area that they'll look more closely at their coverage and where to position new towers. Not that its an immediate fix, but it gives that cover of them trying to make things better... :ugh2: |

I've had no problems with at&t and my iphone, but I have never had data before on a phone, so I'm sure verizon may be faster and better, but its better than what I had before with verizon, which was just a phone that was a phone only.

The contract between AT&T and Apple has ended. iPhone will be coming to other carriers shortly. This move will force AT&T to improve their network so by the time the iPhone is available on other carriers, it won't matter.
|
The one thing people also forget is, no carrier in the US covers as many users as AT&T does. Not saying Verizon will fail also if they get the iPhone, but if as many people as they estimate jump Verizon is going to be hurting soon.
