Yes it is possible, there is a way to cheat and verify it does change color and I did that.
A lot of factors come into play though, your response time, monitor response time, etc. I did also play legitimately and got it to change, just have to be accurate.

It does change. Did it twice.

I was able to get it to change several times, its tricky but it can be done.

Did it once, just flicked it straight up and caught it on the way down. Fun, maybe... pointless, you bet.
