UPDATE: I just saw on the news this morning that Toyota performed some tests and poked holes at this story. They actually recreated the situation with his Prius and other Prius' at Qualcomm Stadium, and they all stopped when pressing down on the brakes with the pedal to the metal.

There is a ECU system override when you press brake and gas at the same time the car shuts down. I don't understand how his could be the only Prius ever to have this issue. It doesn't make sense.

It definitely smelled like dirty play from the get-go. Now its a matter of proving it...either way I hope he gets what he deserves.

Notwithstanding the question, I'm still wrestling with the fact that there have been other manufacturers that have had similar problems several years back, primarily American ones BTW....and nothing was ever made of the problems...now with the country in an economic crisis there is this media and congressional blitzkrieg that is all over Toyota (and also Honda for something possibly similar) like flies on poop....realy makes me wonder what the possible real impetus behind the media and congressional behavior is....
