Default People Never Cease to Amaze Me (First Blemish = First Dent)

Okay, picture this, it's at night and it's a normal evening. I'm patiently waiting at a light in the turning lane and just minding my own business and listening to some Hybrid. All sudden I see some WHITE lights come on coming from the car in front of me also waiting in this same turning lane as I am. I started to think to myself this car has to be playing around. Keep in mind, I can see the bottom of this car so I know I was not on the car's rear. Next thing I know, the lights are getting bigger. I was like WTH, is this car reversing in the turning lane?! So I started to slam on the freakin' horn to get this car to stop but no it just keeps on creeping into me. I turn around behind me (and all around me) to see if there was any car behind me so I could maybe reverse a little and yep, a car was there. So at this point, all I could do was hold my brakes down and brace myself. CRACK it went!

A 2006 300C SRT-8 has decided to reverse into me. The lady told me she did not see me and blamed her 2 really young kids for distracting her (while all stepping out of the car on her cell phone). The one thing funny that happen that night was when her husband came and picked up the kids, he asked me "Is that a 370Z?" I told him yes. He then turns to his wife and says, "Wow, honey, not only you hit a car, you had to hit a really new car!" I just could not help turn away and laugh. (he happen to be an owner of a local performance shop)

I was so proud of myself. I kept my cool but I tell you what, I was very livid inside. I know we all LOVE our Zs so I wanted to share this. It was like a slow-mo doom. This is the first blemish on the car. Why couldn't it just been like a small rock chip or something? It was overall small deal but I haven't even owned my car a year yet. Here are some pics. Thank you for letting me vent!!!!!!

You know, this has almost happened to me several times (someone just deciding to back up at a light). I guess it's more common than one would think.

I was pulling up to a light where a car was in front with his reverse lights on. I stopped WAY behind him (someone was behind me as well). Sure enough, when the light turned green, he didn't just go, he mashed the gas. Came flying at me like a bat out of hell (newer caddy). I laid on the horn and thankfully he stopped a few feet from my bumper.

Similar story when I pulled behind a truck who leaving home depot with particle board in the back of his truck. He got pole position at the light, and I looked at his unsecured load and said to my passenger "That **** is all going to come out if he really gasses it." I reversed a couple car lengths and sure enough, light turns green and he lost his entire load flooring it. Idiots

Poor Zee Sorry that happened! I think our lack of visibility is compounded by how low we are to the ground and her talking on her cell phone. (If she had a 370Z with the Nav system and bluetooth like I do in my Z, she wouldn't have had to be holding a phone up to her ear.)

Glad it wasn't worse!

LOL. Trust me, that's how I felt. But afterward, I just kind of thought it wasn't going to make things any better if I started to get all "crazy-Asian" on her. That probably would have landed me in jail, haha.

Ya, seriously! The worse it would have been, the longer I would be without my Z. Fortunately the body shop said it will only take 3 or 4 days. Allstate is awesome, too, they gave me a rental. Corolla! (I hope the throttle doesn't stick)

Good thinking. She was before it though...

Woah, Frost, 2 close calls is not cool at all. You have been very lucky! (knocks on wood for you)

We are a bit low but when she got out of the car with that phone glued to her head, I had a pretty good feeling what might have caused it. I'm actually waiting on a new headunit to come in so that I can have bluetooth.

I got her back and it feels insanely great! I'll admit, it was nice having the Corolla to beat up on for a bit and no, the throttle didn't stick at all! But it help me appreciate my Z even more, going from the Z to a Corolla and back to the Z. Here are some pics my buddy got with his Nikon DSLR after I got her back. We (I) had to go for a drive after the Z being MIA for a bit so we decided to get some pics too.

Also, I went ahead and asked for a special request and had my front fangs painted satin black since it was getting fully replaced anyway and then had the rear done the same to match. It's nothing new but I have to say, even though I like this from seeing others do the same in pictures, it looks better in person and on the road. Eventually I will build on the same color scheme with additions of aero-parts.
