Not that I don't care, but a lot of accidents had happened that people have died in the past also due to defects of parts by other cars manufactures.

At least they are admitting there is a problem and are trying to resolve it others have ignored it.

I hope everything get taken care of it and they learn from there mistake.

MightyBobo 02-26-2010 08:33 AM

I just dont want a company who willingly issues a swift recall to solve a problem bashed, while a company who knew of a problem and swept it under a table until some people DIED because of it is praised for "apologizing" lol.

yes, this

The reason that Toyota got shat on by the media had nothing to do with favoritism or everyone wanting to see them fall. It had to do with the combined fact that the problem caused deaths and was also unresolved/covered up for 6 months or more.

Toyota is hardly being singled out. :V

Made to Japanese-designed spec, no doubt.

After several months of internal memos talking about the problem, and the latest memo to surface that discussed how much they were going to save by ignoring the problem :roflpuke2:

Wrong. The problem dates far sooner than CTS Corp was even involved, and they don't make the Lexus pedal:

CTS Corporation, the American manufacturer of the electronic accelerator pedals that Toyota claims is at fault, has announced that:
The problem of sudden unintended acceleration has been reported to have existed in some Lexus vehicles and Toyota vehicles going back to 1999, when CTS did not even make this product for any customer, CTS believes that the rare slow return pedal phenomenon, which may occur in extreme environmental conditions, should absolutely not be linked with any sudden unintended acceleration incidents. CTS is also not aware of any accidents and injuries caused by the rare slow return pedal condition, to the best of its knowledge. CTS wishes to clarify that it does not, and has never made, any accelerator pedals for Lexus vehicles and that CTS also has no accelerator pedals in Toyota vehicles prior to model year 2005.[48]

nothing. This whole media circus is a JOKE. An even bigger joke is the congressional panel filled with grandstanding douchebags like MICHIGAN'S Rep John Dingell, who should have been forcibly removed from congress decades ago for blatant assholery.

I have a real problem with a group who only has a 10% approval rating giving anyone grief about the decisions they make.

bigaudiofanat 02-26-2010 12:04 PM

There was over 100 recalls on the first year camaro or was that the challenger oh I do not know they all look the same. GM still is a bad company in my book.

Pushing_Tin 02-26-2010 01:52 PM

Recalls are fine, but some of them on the Camaro should have been discovered during the R&D phase. I mean, who knew that a cable rubbing ON the starter could cause a problem? That's not rocket surgery.

Nada. My point is, there are many to blame - why point the finger at an American shop? All they are doing is assembling a Japanese-designed machine...

Yeah, when I was in the market I just couldn't believe the lack of polish on the Camaro. I really wanted to like it too. :(

That's GM. Though they have been getting better.

Really? I was a member there for a while when I was deciding between the maro and the Z, and it was a good site back then. (Circa, 7 months ago)

It doesn't matter where it's made, or who made it!

It doesn't even matter that there was a recall. Every car company will issue a recall sooner or later!

Toyota knew there was a problem, and that it was a safety problem! And they sat with their thumbs up there a$s!

You guys who complain about Toyota getting bashed and knocked around. Do you not have any concern about the safety of people who own these cars! And what about the people who lost a family member(s).

CrownR426 02-26-2010 10:25 PM

Toyota knew about these safety hazards months before the accidents occured!
You don't get to taste the honey without the sting of the bee.
