I have been watching technically from this weekend, but all the big news was of course today. I think the idea and UI look is exactly what I am looking for, but will it be on a phone that I want to buy. It is like the Android, really like the OS, but very few phones make it worthwhile to buy into it.

From what I've read, they've scrapped the legacy winmo platform and basically started from scratch...it looks to me that they've built the phone experience around their Zune interface. It has a lot of potential and hopefully the phones that carry this will shine. Apple's Iphone OS is great, but can be a little restrictive (apples don't break because apple wont allow you to hehe). Android is getting there, but with open source, you get the bad with the good...hopefully win7 will be a good medium. I was never happy with older winmo phones, but hopefully, like windows 7, this is a good switch.
Its not supposed to come out until the holiday season and as far as phones you can get right now, I think the HTC HD2 is rumored to be one that you can upgrade to winmo7 once its released. I was planning on getting a phone in June after the iPhone announcement (so I can make a proper decision), but now I'm wondering about winmo7 phones haha. |

Yes, Phone 7 is a completely ground up build, which at first I did not believe they could do but they did, sort of. The Zune interface style, with proper mobile interface could be exactly what they need.
For me I am not sure it will be able to pull me away from still wanting to go Android this summer. I really have taken to the Google web programs, Google Voice, docs, etc. and having a native phone easily support all that is exactly what I need. I always have a netbook with Windows on it just in case I need my Microsoft fix.

Beats the crap out of your iPhone.
I bought it for school so I could have something to "take notes on," but was not a full size 13" notebook. I almost bought the Macbook Air but was not going to drop about 1k on a laptop with that shitty of a CPU/GPU (at the time).

The GPU is the one main thing that sucks about my netbook, nVidia's ION should solve that issue but will not buy another laptop for awhile. My laptop tops out at 480i really and even then it does not like me doing other things when watching videos.

Yeah but this time they are taking the right approach, I think. Trying to lock down the OS a bit, getting rid of any need for a start menu, etc.
There is plenty of hardware which can run this type of OS, but can Microsoft deliver what they are hyping in a clean (bug free) device?
