I've got a couple quick and important questions!
Hey everyone,
So I've been reading around the forum for a little bit now and I came up with a few questions I'd love to get everyone's opinion on so without further typing, I'll just dive right in: What do you think is better, the 7AT or the 6MT? I can see the benefits to both but I can't figure out which I would enjoy more..so what do you think? What is the best Exhaust? I want a great exhaust that makes lots of power and sounds great! The cheaper the better but I want the best one out there. What is the best Intake? Which one is going to be the most bang for the buck? How are the Takadas (sp)? What is the best Oil to use and when should I swtich? Also what filter are you guys recommending to use too? How many miles are you guys doing your changes at? Did you all follow the break in recommendations? I've read conflicting stories about hard vs soft break-ins and just don't know what to believe anymore. I need input fast! PLEASE HELP! What tire should I go to when my stockers are done? I was thinking about Falkens but some people have said they aren't good at all according to some review articles they read in a car magazine.. what do you think? Also what sizes should I go with? This one is really a tough one but what color should I go with? Could you guys all post up pictures of your Zs in different colors so I can compare what they all look like so I can figure out which one I'm going to like more. Also, I'm only 17 years old.. does anyone know how much insurance is going to be for me? Thanks for the input everyone! I can't wait to get all these great parts for my car. It's going to look so good that it'll be in the next FF movie!:driving::happydance: |
insurance will be hell probably. over here if your under 25 they basically take the normal rate and double or tripple it.
I love manual but I also like the automatic gear box since you do have flappy pedals and the up/down shifting stick while manual. automatic is easiest to drive but some people want manual because they feel more in control. The rest of your questions are questions I need answered too Haha. color choice. I would personally totally go black but I had to get the grey one my 370 http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...Z/IMG_0451.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...Z/IMG_0452.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...Z/IMG_0453.jpg |

Honestly I wouldn't mind a topic with everything packed in one. there are too many topic about just one thing that its hard to keep track of what is good.

Search is the best thing for you but my input
Black or White 7AT is for me can shift when I want Intake Stillen or Injen but AEM is coming out soon so wait for results on that Oil Filter I would use K&N as for break in under 4k rpms |
Many of your questions can be answered if you search because everyone has they're own opinion of which exhaust, oil, etc is better. If you go to progressive.com you should be able to get a quote.

I'm a little baffled here. You have 6000 post but your asking questions I would have suspected you would already know the answers to by now. I almost feel like this is meant to be a joke. Either way, I'll play along....
I say if its your daily drive and you live in the city get the AT. If its not get the MT. The transmissions on our cars are really nice and the AT and MT difference really is small. I have read on this forum that the Takadas intakes may actually make the car loose HP. Might want to PM the forum member JD. He's around he just sold his Takadas in the members forum section. I don't have Aftermarket Exhaust yet but It seems FI may be the favorite. I like redline oil. I followed the manufacturer breakin period. Every once and a while I gave it some gas. I'm not sure about the Tires I'm still on stock. Color, everyone who has one is going to be bias. I say blue but of course I have a blue Z. Your insurance is going to be huge! Probably as much as your car note or pretty close to. |

Take the Automatic, that way you can keep both hands on the wheel! Plus you'll be able to concentrate on your driving.
|
Make sure to keep the VDC on or you might crash and your mom will be pissed.

From a G37 standpoint, I like the FI exhaust the best, injen intake. I prefer the 7a/t. Z and G have the same engine

Good luck with the Z purchase
I wish mom and dad woulda bought me a $30k+ car, but than again..if they did, I would never understand responsibility and life :) Sh*t, I'm still paying on my 05 Neon from 4 years ago LOL I love rollin over that money onto the next car...... I can do that cuz I have a jobby job :p |
First, welcome new guy!
Everybody knows that the auto is faster, plus it's easier to perform or receive sexual tasks, either with someone else or with yourself. Exhausts systems are for wussies and poofs, get a sawzall and remove all the piping after the headers. Intake = also overrated. Take everything off and run air directly into the engine. All that filter garbage merely reduces you horsepower. I mean, these engines are advanced, they can take some miscellaneous dirt just fine. Any oil is just fine, but I'm going to give you a secret of the pros. Maple Syrup. I know, I know, sounds crazy, but it has an awesome viscosity, and it's been proven in some of the harshest areas in the world, like freezing canada. Break in is tricky, and many people have different viewpoints. What everyone can agree on is driving WOT every opportunity. Engines LOVE being red lined, especially when new. Like a virgin prom date, you really have to abuse cars early on for a good ride. Tires, well, let's first talk about rims. Switch to four doughnut tires. The weight savings will be awesome, and you will find people on the board practically giving these things away. I'm glad you brought up color, since no one ever talks about this. I find that it's best to buy colors based on your nationality. So, if your white, buy a white car, black buys black, and so on. It's the only way to settle this properly. Insurance = also for Marys. Completely overrated, you're a safe driver, right? Skip it, that way with the money you save not buying insurance, you can get the sports and touring packages. Hope this helps, A/S/L? |
