Damn...........
Well I had an interesting work day yesterday/today. It all started at 4:30pm when everyone left the yard except me (I work for a company that test drives car for manufactures, pm me if you want the whole story ) I was waiting for a tech that works on the vehicles computer to upload a new graph or something. Anyways while waiting, my sup. who is also waiting for us to leave since he locks the yard, tells us that vehicle 1716 had stopped working about a mile out from the yard on the highway, said it couldn't go past 50mph and when he stopped and turned it off to reset the comp it wouldn't crank. So me and the techs head out there trying to see what went wrong. Well me and my co-worker suggested to call the wrecker, but the techs wanted to fix it. Mean while another co-worker whose on his way to Laredo is have some clanging noises coming from the wheels of vehicle 1711.
The tech questioned him over the phone and said it should be ok. After the talk they decided to get the ECU from a different vehicle and put it in the one thats down. Well we get back to the yard and I wait for 1hr. till they finally get it out, the co-worker of 1711 who was on his way to laredo didn't feel comfortable so he told my sup. that he is heading back. Finally with ECU in hand we head out to the vehicle until my co-worker in 1716, called and said to find some jumpers as the vehicle is about to die...well I spent 15mins trying to find them and I had not clue where they put them....hell with it, we will just call a wrecker like we should have in the first place. Anyways we get there, the battery dies, we call the wrecker. Well my sup. calls me up and says that 1711 was close to the yard....BUT......it's missing the front drivers wheel welllll that doesn't sound too good. So we leave 1716 and head back to find 1711 on the side of the road...with a missing wheel. Well eventually we found the wheel at the top of the overpass (he was exiting of ramp) luckily no one hit it, and our boss is going to have a great time later this morning about this incident. Well I finally start my route then finish it at 2:30am and head for home. For anyone who lives in corpus christi...we have ALOT of potholes...and our city IMO is just wasting money patching it. Well I guess you know what happens on my way home....yep hit a pothole going 40mph and it flattens my front drivers tire...and ruined the wheel . So its about 3:30am, pissed off already and sooooo close to home I get out and man up....FYI this is the 2nd time I had to put a car on the jack to change a wheel. Well luckily a cop was not far behind me and was kind enough to light up my car so I can raise it and throw in the spare. Well damn it my jack was maxed and I couldn't fit the spare, so I ask if she could call a wrecker to help. Well I'll say this, the back of the squad car is not comfortable. So finally the wrecker comes by, helps with the spare, bills me $50 (glad I got paid today) and I drive home.....on a damn ALMOST flat spare. Anyways I'm home typing this and now I need a OEM '99 corolla wheel with tire .........god I hope I don't have to work today |

Sucky day, I can't lie.
Do you have a pic of the dented rim? I had the same thing happen to me, and I thought my rim was gonzo, but I took it to Bubba at the CASE IH and damn if he didn't make it like new. I've driven over 2k miles on the tire and I can't tell a difference. Trying to save you the cash of a new wheel. |

We've all had bad days at work and can relate. Yesterday was not a good day for me at work either. Hope today goes better for you.

Yesterday I had a bad day at work too. But it seems that this damn Winter makes things worse every freaking day!

That wheel looks just like what happened to mine. The tire might still be good as long as it's not bulged. It cost me $30 to get mine repaired, so it probably wouldn't have been worth it for you. Good luck man.

I've got a few things to install on the Z as the weather allows (I have a small one car garage so work on the car is done outside). Can't wait for spring!

Yeah I double checked the tire and it look fine, I'll take it to wal-mart and see if they can take the tire off the old one and put it on the new-ish one.
